You should know the Good Lord is holding your hand as you help your brother through this difficult time. We never get more to handle than the Good Lord knows we can, and my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Your brother will come out of this as strong as before, as I really do believe in miracles, and I'm asking God to grant you one now in my prayers. Good Luck.

Praying for a quick and successful recovery for your brother, and for peace and strength for you and your family as you go through this ordeal. From what you wrote, your brother has kept himself in good physical condition, so that should be a plus for him. They are making strides almost daily in the treatment of cancer, and I hope that will give your brother a positive attitude. I've read that a positive attitude is a major part of one's recovery. May God bless your brother and his loved ones.

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers.
I just got the most surprising call; the phone has been ringing off the wall this morning. My brother's ex-wife just called to let us know that my brother is in her prayers and she wished our whole family the best. I haven't spoken with her in the 14 years since their divorce. When I answered the phone she asked me if I knew who it was. I told her I recognized her voice immediately.
She also told me that her folks will be calling our folks this morning to express the same sentiment.
I think that was very thoughtful of her and her family.
Disease or death can really bring out the best in family...and even "ex" family.
In addition, my nephew (my dear brother's son) "pinged" me via instant messenger that he was approved for emergency leave to come home. He is in the Air Force based in Florida. I just bought him a plane ticket so he'll be home by late tonight.
Thanks again guys.

Thanks GW. My better half (MBH)just got off the phone with my Mom and our family's pastor said that he would lead a prayer in service tomorrow as none of the family will be most likely be there.
The small ut1992 family (me, MBH and our puppy) also prayed the following this morning;
"Dear Jesus, Divine Physician and Healer of the Sick, we turn to You in this time of illness. O dearest Comforter of the troubled, alleviate our worry and sorrow with Your gentle love, and grant us the grace and strength to accept this burden. Dear God, we place our sick under Your care and humbly ask that You restore Your servant Mike to health again. Above all, grant us the grace to acknowledge Your holy will and know that whatsoever You do, You do for the love of us. Amen."
MBH wants to stop by our Church (were we attend services) on the way to the airport to light a candle and say a pray for my brother.

Brittmac, I'm not sure what exact type it is.
The phone conversation I had with my brother after the "C" word was announced late last night went mostly like. "...OH NO, oh geez, oh no, I love you so much, OMG, oh geez, don't do anything stupid, oh geez, we're coming home as soon as possible...!!!!", so I don't know all of the details.
All I really know is he is having both testes removed immediately and will have chemo. Hopefully the "masses/tumors" in his stomach are benign.

I lost my brother to cancer 13 years ago. He was 52.My age.
I haven't been feeling well lately either. Occasional episodes of nausea out of the blue, lack of energy, some unexplained weight loss and poor appetite, plus vague symptoms suggesting I need stem to stern gastrointestinal look-see.
I'm seeing a gastrointestinal specialist on Tuesday. I'm a bit apprehensive because you never know what they might find. It could be nothing. It could be big. But you deal with it. What else can you do?
