First heard this on the radio, and honestly thought it was a misquote.

If true, then the war will go regional.

I suppose it is better to lance this boil early rather than to let it fester. If this has to happen, better sooner than later. I would love to see this resolved once and for all.

Looks like the Pope does too.

The world leaders are trying to act shocked that Israel came out with soo much force.

I know exactly what Israel is doing. This has been building up for a long, long time. Hezbollah is going to be cleared out of Southern Lebannon and the Bakka valley is going to cleared out as well. Israel is not going to end this anytime soon. All they are doing is cutting off Hezbollahs resupply routes and escape routes. Iran and Syria cannot fly in resupplies anymore. They will within the week start a huge ground campaign into southern Lebannnon. As soon as I read a couple days ago that Israel has called up all reserves to report for duty, I knew that a ground campaign in southern lebannon was going to happen and very soon.
Its going to get very ugly. But this is long overdue and Hezbollah is going to get exactly what is coming to them.

But Syria is going to be all talk about this. Even if Israel turns the bakaa valley into a smoking crater. Syria knows they will be completely ripped to pieces in a fight with the Israeli army.
Syria doesn't have many friends in the middle-east anymore. They royally pissed off the arabs by assainating Rafic Hariri. He was very close the leaders of Saudi Arabia. Quietly, the arabs want some major payback for that.

IMO, this *is* "later"
we in thew West have, for far too long, coerced Israel to fight under Marquis of Queensbury rules.
During the Cold War, this made some sense, but there's no excuse for the continuation of this policy after the fall of the USSR.

What about Iran in these circumstances? After all, Hesbollah is the Iranian client first and foremost... Would that crazy Amajin[whatshisname] stand still?

perhaps it should be propositioned another way

ass kickin or ass lickin?

you compare iraq standing for three weeks. if i recollect, in 1967 they had a war wrapped up in 5 days. Today if they elect it could be a 9 minute war, and, using traditional techniques (if they got serious) 5 days again is not out of the question.

i agree , israel is the best capitalized and most organized.
they have done the wrong thing pushing Israel into a corner and they will pay. EVEN the saudis recognize this. AND yes, they should take it to those intermeddlers, syria and iran. They are todays root, worse yet, crying crocodile tears for lebanon.

Well if US troops are sent I just hope we take a lseeon from the Israelis and not try to be so "sensitive" and wind up with more casualties than neccessary.

For some reason, this: "Damascus will cease being a city. A ruinous heap." Seems appropriate to many threads.

Does wiping out Hezbollah mean they won't be able to attack the US when we hit Iran's centrifuge targets?

I'd heard threats from Iran about that. What percentage of Hezbollah could be wiped out in a war with Israel?

I seems like Iran's proxy is about to be neutered; is that correct?

Not going to happen, 5 to 1 or not, Israel will end up winning this in a military sense. But the politics could block a total victory again, and the pattern would then continue.

There is nothing you have said here that I disagree with. It was more the observation that this could easily drag on another half century.

or longer, true. I agree: the time to end this nonsense is now - while it can be done rather unilaterally.

So far, Iran and Syria are only yakking.

I haven't lost a moment's sleep over this yet.

We'll see, though.

That's like saying that the US fully backs the USMC. It is an arm of their military, funded by Iran and jointly controlled.
