The Oracle of Damascus spoken in Isaiah 17:1 has been a long time coming.

Assad wouldn't have his people saying this unless he thought he could win. I wonder what other coutries are about to get in on this hit parade against Israel?
And I wonder what WMD Syria has lined up since there is ZERO change they would defeat Israel in a straight up conventional fight.
I think Iran and Egypt might jump in at the last minute.

israel wouldnt be kickin beirut and shelling lebanon if Syria/Irans agents were not there hiding behind the skirts of lebanon!
If the iranian/syrian intermeddling stopped, there would be no issue.

Syria can fully die with them then..

"are trying to wipe out Arab resistance in every land under occupation"
Good grief, ok what about 9/11, Madrid bombing, London Bombing, and all the other crap they keep on trying to do. They have a very odd perspective on things...

It said Israel and the United States "are trying to wipe out Arab resistance in every land under occupation" and that President Bashar al-Assad was aware of the seriousness of the situation in the region.Arab resistance? Hah? Wha? Who?
This President Asswad guy makes no sense.

Doesn't look to me like Syria is doing much supporting. They talk the talk but are too afraid to walk the walk. Israel would stomp the Syrians AGAIN if they jump into this.

Syria just wants to get back in control of Lebannon. Syria was running a major money laundering scheme with the Russian mob through Lebanese banks before they were kicked out. This was a major part of the Syrian economy and kept the leaders rolling in cash to prop up their dictatorship.
Plus Lebannon supplies Syria with the majority of their grown food and water.
No matter what happens in Lebannon, we cannot allow Syria to get their meat hooks back in there.
Even if it means putting US ground troops there. Syria musn't be allowed back in there. End of story.

Syria says fully backs Hizbollah against Israel They've always fully backed them -- no secret there. But to openly admit it is an invitation for disaster (for Syria).

Agree completely. ...and I think that's where this is all headed. Lebanon will be cleansed of Hezbollah and all other Syrian presence.

that entire region could attack Israel and they would still loose. They are terrified to death of any technological, organized, disciplined, army with armor, and air and naval support. Iraq stood for 3 weeks and toppled. In 1991 desert storm was more powerful than a hurricane Katrina. Even when two muslim countries fight each other....they both loose. They are the least disciplined, least intelligent, least unified, most disorganized, poorly equipped fighting force in the history of warfare. Israel needs to turn towards Syria, march through and don't stop till they destroy Iran, nukes, E-moms and muslim jihadists .

"Arabic-speaking armies have been generally ineffective in the modern era. Egyptian regular forces did poorly against Yemeni irregulars in the 1960s.1 Syrians could only impose their will in Lebanon during the mid-1970s by the use of overwhelming weaponry and numbers.2 Iraqis showed ineptness against an Iranian military ripped apart by revolutionary turmoil in the 1980s and could not win a three-decades-long war against the Kurds.3 The Arab military performance on both sides of the 1990 Kuwait war was mediocre.4 And the Arabs have done poorly in nearly all the military confrontations with Israel. Why this unimpressive record? There are many factorseconomic, ideological, technicalbut perhaps the most important has to do with culture and certain societal attributes which inhibit Arabs from producing an effective military force..."
Long article, but very very interesting and timely in the light of current events.
