Nearly 5,000 people gathered near Cairo's Al-Azhar Mosque, chanting anti-Israel slogans and carrying banners that read "No to Israel" and "Hey Arab leaders, you should be united."
Hosni Mubarak, the Egyptian president, met Jordan's King Abdullah II nearby to discuss the situation.
They issued a joint statement demanding "an immediate halt on attacking civilians and vital infrastructure," saying such attacks breached international humanitarian conventions, and called for restraint on all sides.
Egypt and Jordan are the only countries in the region to have signed peace treaties with Israel.
ummmm....that may not be such a far-fetched theory...all things considered...

worth noting - Report: IDF attacks Tripoli in northern Lebanon
Lebanon police reported that the Israeli Air Force attacked targets in the northern city of Tripoli, located some 90 kilometers (55 miles) from the capital Beirut. (AFP)
Someone mentioned earlier that the roadway from Tripoli to Syria also needs to be cut off and might be another precursor for an invasion of southern lebanon. By the way i think the invasion of southern lebanon happens no matter what, unless that is soldiers returned, rockets stopped, implemntation of UN 1559. Israel doesn't mobilize unless it intends to do something.

We actually put between 3 and 6 RGFC divisions combat ineffective in a 24 to 48 hour period, but tooling up for that didn't happen in hours, days, or even weeks, it took Tommy Franks and Sec Rumsfeld months to put together that plan and ease the assets into place to carry it out.
Based on current news, our forces in Iraq are adequate to achieve the current mission.
Five or ten Pasdaran divisions are not in our current AoR.

Israel claimed in 2004 that the drone, dubbed by Hezbollah the "Mirsad 1," or "observation post" in Arabic, was Iranian-made. On Friday, however, Israeli officials suggested it had been developed by the Lebanese Shiite Muslim group, as Hezbollah itself has claimed in the past.
Defense analyst John Pike of the Washington-based firm Global Security doubted that claim.
"I think Hezbollah has people capable of rigging explosives to a drone, but I don't think they could develop a UAV on their own," he said. Global Security's website notes that a leading Arab newspaper, London-based Ash-Sharq Al-Awsat, once reported that Iran sold eight Mohajer-4 drones to Hezbollah.
Iran fields several types of UAVs, including one, called the Ababil, with a 9-foot-long body, capable of flying for 90 minutes, and able to carry a 90-pound payload. Nasrallah was quoted in 2004 as saying Hezbollah's drones could carry 40 kilograms — 90 pounds — of explosives.
The drone's TV camera makes it relatively easy to mount such an attack, Pike said.
"It's not bigtime rocket science to put explosives on the thing and then use the TV camera to home in on the ship," he said.

14 miesweepers is more than enough to sweep ahead of naval vessels, but remember, one supertanker sunk at the Straits of Hormuz can bottle up a lot of oil.
Mines are insidious, they can be deployed from small craft if need be. Think "IED" and you get the idea and most of the implications.
