That was a new one to me so I searched and found this, which had an interesting write up but for some reason I can't link to the page but here's a compressed URL and a picture of the Glory of the Seas.

Thanks -- you're right lol. Thanks for looking that up.
YouTube is great. Very handy.
"We shouldn't exploit lower life forms."
How about Democrats?
They are also invstigating snake venoms and other natural products for medical use. Its a growing field and a good argument for not allowing species to become extinct.
Yes, so very annoying, but they were doing something right -- everyone remembers it!
Don't worry, our serum comes from free-range snails only. Collected in a non-threatening, volunteer environment, and they are paid for their time.
LOL!!! I have free range snails on my property. They really enjoy a good dose of Bugetta.
How about Democrats?
The risk of transmitting Mad DU disease is too great.
I'm surprised at how many people think this topic is nothing but a hoot.
Or seem to think that doctors are using cone shell venom straight from the mollusc.
I am here to say that this is very serious stuff, and it's likely that within a very few years effective, non addictive, non-euphoric pain drugs based on this technology will be widely available and be considered a great blessing by sufferers of all sorts of chronic, neuopathic pain.
Zincotide (a calcium channel blocker) is only the first. AVC1 (a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor blocker) will likely be the second on the market.
Others will follow, and not just pain drugs.
No worries...no sea snails were harmed in the manufacture of this drug.
"It is a synthetic version of the venom used by Conus magus, the Magicians Cone Snail, to hunt prey."
LOL. I suppose the cure would then be "Clap Off!"?
In the world of pharmacology this is known as omega conotoxin. I have been using the GVIA variant for years to probe for neuronal N type calcium channels. This approach has been in the works for years
I knew there would be the usual ration of sarcastic / negative responses but am glad to see there are some informative ones, such as yours. I passed your earlier post on to a friend who has MS and chronic pain from a back injury, among other things. Thanks for the information.
