I met Firebrand for a moment. I was standing right behind Raoul in his Boris Badenov costume the whole time (without knowing who he was). Where were you standing?

Thanks, Begin. I was wrong about when the protest would be staged. I wonder if more protests are being planned?
Organizer Beth Gilinsky...google time.

I thought that was spy vs spy. Different cultural touch points I suppose! :-)
I was hanging mostly with ELS, Coleus and Clemenza on the curb by the back fence. Firebrand was coming and going.

ToldYou and Coleus were taking some photos so maybe we'll all recognize eachother next time!
It's been a while since FReepers have gotten together in the NYC area so we're not that familier with eachother. And going around asking "Are you a FReeper?" is typically uncomfortable!

Dozens of protesters yesterday denounced The New York Times for disclosing details of anti-terror efforts by the Bush administration. "Freedom of speech doesn't mean you can aid the enemy in a time of war," said Rabbi Aryeh Spero, one of the demonstration's organizers.
Outstanding! Rabbi Spero, you're exactly right! Keep it up folks.

You are so right about that last part! This being my first event I was being quiet and taking it all in. It would be nice to know people at events in the future. Next time there is something in the city, we will have to co-ordinate a Freeper area or something.

Good point. Today it's a badge of honor among the illliterati, so called journalists, to claim they are "above" nationalism and indeed are citizens of the world in the purity of their journalistic philosophy. The truth, they claim, transcends national borders. *Gagging as I speak*. Revealing national secrets? Disseminating our war plans? What's next for the New York Times, revealing troop movements?

Prosecute them both, I say. The leaker for revealing classified info and the Times for printing it.That's what I think.
I really think the publicity & protest about this is missing the boat by focusing on the newspaper.
If someone is leaking classified information to a newspaper, there are likely to be leaks to other places as well.
The LEAKERS need to be found & prosecuted.
