Somebody had to pay for the bus loads of illegals to the marches. I think all this backfired on some of our government officials as this was a planned, costly affair. It was all timed to coincide with the senate bill. It takes money to do this. What better way than to use the American taxpayer money?

Yes, and many of us wondered how that was possible.

Good grief. I stay up a little late to FReep for once. Plug in the iPod. Pour a glass of wine. And this information is the reward I get?!

It is funny that they spent the money unwisely. Easy come and easy go. America had no idea how many illegals were here. Seeing the Mexican flag flying in the USA didn't help their cause at all.

UPDATE, just to keep you up at night. ;)

"Former President Bill Clinton told one of the nation's largest Hispanic civil rights groups Saturday that the conservative wing of the Republican Party is using the immigration issue to divide Congress and the nation.

"It is a way of creating a divided community, and distracting people from the real challenges facing the country whether it is in Iraq and Afghanistan, or homeland security, or how to build a clean energy future, or how to solve the health-care crisis, or how to create new jobs for America," he said.

Clinton made the remarks, some of his most extensive since the issue of illegal immigration heated up in Washington this year, before several thousand people at the opening session of the four-day National Council of La Raza convention in Los Angeles."

More excerpts from Clinton's speech ( see my previous post):

"Clinton said hard-liners are "basically saying these undocumented broke the law, send them home -- never mind that they are 5 percent of the workforce and a far bigger percentage in certain critical areas."

"It's crazy to think about sending 11 million people home" to their native countries, said the former president, who called the recent demonstrations for immigrants' rights "incredibly moving."

You know how Clinton is with words. He meant to say "the vast right wing majority".

"National Council of La Raza was given $15.2 million in federal grants"

Damn! Why? To further more illegals. BS!

(snip)

But Clinton also argued that the nation's government is controlled by Republican ideological hard-liners who want to use immigration to divide Americans and distract them from issues such as the war in Iraq and the health care crisis.

Instead of equal opportunity, they support a "financial elite" because they favor "concentrated wealth and power," Clinton said.

"They believe in a government that is secret, unaccountable and that maximizes its own power," he said. "They really believe the world works better if they run it and we keep our mouths shut."
