You can't make copies for re-sale unless you obtain the rights. You can't make edits unless you obtain additional rights.
Films are cleaned up all the time for airplanes, television and foreign markets. The terms of the edits and distribution are clearly spelled out in the contracts.

Your argument about emotion applies at least as well to murder as it does to modification of copyright law.
To: HiTech RedNeck
One judge, relying on existing copyright law. He was upholding the pre existing law. He wasn't legislating, just pointing out that they broke the law that is in existence. How hard is that for you to understand?
To: durasell
You claimed they wanted the original to vanish. That was the falsehood. No, they only did not wish to be agents in passing on certain elements of it to their own clientele.
To: Central Scrutiniser
One judge's opinion. One.
To: HiTech RedNeck
No it doesn't. I noted that many posters here want the law to be changed, just in this instance because they have a pre-existing bias against the hollywood directors. Murder is wrong, always, without regards to emotion. (crimes of passion and the penumbras of such nonwithstanding)

I like Medved, but he can be very wrong at times.

Hollywood impacts foreigners views of America much more than President Bush and it is usually an adverse impact.
That's an interesting point. I cannot tell you how many immigrants and visitors of a certain age I've met who wanted to come to America because of -- get this! -- Bay Watch. The show, in my opinion, was unwatchable. But in some odd way, the very poor quality of the writing made it perfect for translation in foreign markets.
More recently, I've met young people who visit or immigrate because of Snoop Dogg. Don't ask me, I don't get it either.
I'd also remind you that during the Ukrainian uprising a couple years ago, the protest song played continually was a hip-hop song written by some Ukrainian kid called Together We Are Many.
American popular culture is loved around the world, especially hip-hop -- probably because it annoys parents.

Hollywood killed my sister, and led to the end of Space Snack Sticks.
Its a deep conspiracy!
All these people bleating about how they neeeeeeeeed someone to protect their virgin ears and eyes, but they won't take their own step to not watch what might offend them.
It passed silly about 9 hours ago, its an absurdist dada painting at this point.
To: Central Scrutiniser
I believe that if some of these folks ever went to Hollywood and met some of the people who worked in the film industry, they'd be surprised. That said,
HOLLYWOOD IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FRANK GEHRY!

I know for a fact that Ed McMahon is the Anti-christ.
And Ted McGinley.
To: Central Scrutiniser
Very funny, I had to Google Ted McGinley.
As I stated previous, Hollywood is really the last acceptable bastion of class warfare. The perception being that Hollywood types do very little work for outrageous amounts of money.

Do you agree with copyright laws?
I used to agree until the last couple of months that we must follow all laws whether we agreed with them or not.
But the Open Borders, Hate America First crowd say we do not have to follow immigration law for 20 million illegal aliens.
So then why should I be worried about a non critical law protecting perverts.
Central Scrutiniser wrote:
Or do you only want them when they protect things that you like politically or religiously?
Comment:
I didn't know the bible was copyrighted and thats about the only book other than journals I have faith in or read on a daily basis.
Oops, I do read a couple of newspapers each morning just to see if my stocks are still worth a plug nickle.

Cut all the liberal hollywood crap its not germane to the argument.

Dang I didn't know Hollywood had Germanes working as writers.
Central Scrutiniser wrote:
Immigration and NAMBLA and ACLU are not parts of the argument either, just your emotional ramblings.

Now you went and did it, got me all emotional again, Baaaaaaaaa Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Its about the right of the copyright holders to not have people destroy and profit from their work.

So purging perverted filth out of an entertainment piece is destroying work, then so be it.
Ring the bells and bring on the dark ages, but instead of burning books and Prostentants lets burn useless lascivious language out of movies and depraved writers.

Ted McGinley is the official actor that causes shows to jump the shark.
Ed McMahon is just evil

The writers are in Hollywood, they're already in hell.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
How do copyright laws factor into "open borders, Hate america first, immigration" laws or perverts? They don't, you are rambling and making a fool of yourself.
Bible isn't copyrighted, moot point.
Germane joke....lame, not funny in the least.
Nambla, et al, just more rambling on your part.
And I assume you were trying to be witty about burning books, but don't quit your day job, humor isn't your gig.

I'm gonna fly up to LA and do a one day dead celebrity grave visit, could be fun in an odd way. One tiny little cemetary off of Wilshire and the 405 has all the good ones.
