Bravo! That was one of the most coherent statements of the issue I've read to date. Let's promote Mayor Barletta to a cabinet level official!

We need many more mayors like Mr Barletta!
As mayor of Hazleton, I have had enough!

LOL!
You are probably right.
Guy is just too arrogant to listen to anyone, unless of course it's Vicente Fox on immigration, of course.

McCain is listening to his contributors just like all these border pimps. I can only imagine the deals for future employment as consultants to mexico these whores are making.

Thank you Senator Specter for inviting me to testify today, my name is Eileen Connelly and I am the Executive Director of the Pennsylvania State Council for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), a Change to Win union.
In summary, SEIU supports comprehensive immigration reform securing our borders both north and south, treating undocumented immigrants firmly but fairly by requiring them to undergo background checks, pay a fine and learn English in exchange for getting on a path to citizenship, and addressing the need in our economy for future workers, who have full protection of labor law and enforcement.Interesting that the Union's position parallels that of Bush and the other open borders crowd.
How do you Bushbots reconcile that? Is Bush now a supporter of Unions?

What is particularly troubling is that he, as an illegal immigrant from the Dominican Republic, should never have been in this country in the first place, let alone in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. I also ask you to give Hazleton the resources it needs to remove the illegal immigrants from our city. I challenge you to open a necessary Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in downtown Hazleton.
This is what makes this such a farce. The Senate and the House do not need to hold "hearings" to know that the federal government is not doing the job they are required by law to do, and are paid by the U.S. taxpayers to do.
In addition to passing and enforcing their own immigration laws, towns like Hazleton need to be suing the federal government for the negligence that is leading to all these unnecessary burdens of crime and its attendant costs.

Everybody and every intterest group but the citizens was represented. As long as the policies and attitudes of the panelists from Phily are allowed, sanctuary cities will feed undocumented aliens to the rest of the country.

The SEIU also has a very high proportion of the rank and file are Hispanic.
