I've seen the documentary.
Oooooooooo. Philosophical debate! Can I add my 2 cents?
If God wanted to "take" someone, could we stop Him?
Wasn't it fascinating?
Disturbing.
Ignore Hildy...It's pointless to argue with her on this, she made up her mind a long time ago that murder was a noble pursuit.
Whenever we talk about posters, we are to ping that poster. It is FR etiquette.
And that's valid, for you...but every Judge who reviewed this case from a legal standpoing, disagreed with you.
You mean like if I were to say to you that freepertoo is a closed-minded fool?
"Understandably, a group of medical researchers decided to seek a natural explanation. They did two sets of scans of Terry's brain 18 months apart, and compared these to scans from healthy people, and from another man who had suffered a similar injury six years ago, but had not recovered....Their conclusion: 'We propose that axonal regrowth may underlie these findings and provide biological mechanisms
for late recovery.' "
Right now the policy of most hospitals is no tests or scans after two months of patient being in a vegetative state to see if there is anything like "axonal regrowth" that might indicate possible recovery. Now as science increases its understanding of how the brain can recover that policy may change.
Understood! I'm not the expert. But I gave my gut reaction. And I do appreciate reasoned disagreement from the folks on this site, always. Thanks.
LOL! Precisely!
The director made one before that called Following. Not as good, but you'll see similarities.
But neither can my baby...your point is what?
That would be two judges that Michael picked, yes? All I'm saying is that I wouldn't want anyone to make that decision for me that would benefit from my demise. HIS brother and sister-in-law.......not her brother or sister. Very sad all around. If you look into the entire story, you will find that all the people who sided with Michael were involved with the euthanasia movement or had an interest in the rest home were he had her incarcerated. None of the people who were allowed to make decision on her behalf had her best interest at heart. I will always believe that all the people who wanted to 'pull the plug' simply wouldn't have wanted to live that way themselves. According to ALL Terri's friends and relatives she had respect for all life. Her killing was disgusting.
You and I disagree as to what life is, obviously.
It was disgusting...to you. Not to me. And maybe, not to her. But you don't really care what she wanted, do you>
Liquefied? Is that a scientific term? It really doesn't matter what state her brain was in, we should never allow a person with a conflict of interest to decide the life of a person? I would never agree to allowing your ex-husband to decide if you should live.
My ex-husband, or anyone who ever knew me, would know what I want. This is our system. Again, for the 50th time, if you don't like the system, work to change it. This case was tried AD NAUSEUM within our system. I ask this to everyone: would you, Nick Carraway, want to live like Terri lived, with your loved ones by your bedside for two decades -- forfeiting their lives for you. Just be honest with me.
