Really? Think about it. The house needs to get senators to change their minds. How much effect do you think this show in California will have on Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein.
This show will have no effect on them because their minds are already made up. They support unrestricted illegal immigration.

Remember house Majority leader Boehner on June 13th told the pro amnesty Chamber of Commerce convention he had the votes in the house to get a bill out of the conference committee. No one believes Boehner meant he had the Senate ready to fold. That leaves the house as the folding object.
He probably received a lot of comments from is constituents after he made that comment.

LOL! As Michael Barone so aptly points out, it probably would have been if not for a few things such as the national referendum on immigration in Utah last week. Indeed, the zealots failed attempt to unseat Congressman Cannon can be credited with clearing the way to put the Pence Plan in play.
Thank you Utah voters.

I thought it was just a primary...it was the Tancredo folks who billed it as a national referendum on immigration. At least until the votes were counted and they went into their Monty Python Holy Grail Black Knight dance...it was just a flesh wound.

Cannon would not have been in a heavily contested primary, but for his treasonous stance on immigration. His opponent should not have gotten even 25% of the vote given his comments and the dirt on him. Yet 4/9 Republicans voted for him. That means that immigration was a single issue factor for over 40% of Republicans in the race. Canon was so afraid that he lied about his position on immigration!
Immigration damn well mattered. All the spin in the world wont change that fact.
Sadly, the neocons and global media don't want the facts out there. Hence the sad shilling at Fox News.

"Cannon would not have been in a heavily contested primary, but for his treasonous stance on immigration."
LOL! You mean unlike Jacobs' stance on immigration?
Lets see. Tancredo originally called Jacobs soft on illegals and claimed that the Pence Plan was amnesty.
Jacobs claimed he could of written the Pence Plan but it expresses his ideas perfectly, then called Tancredo an "opportunist".
Then the original schill Tancredo was supporting in Utah lost out early so Tancredo switched his support to Jacobs, who the week before he claimed was soft on illegals AND despite his support for the Pence Plan.
Seem it's difficult to know what's treasonous and amnesty...I guess it all depends on what day of the week it is in Tom land.

Not nearly as funny as the lead up to the vote when the Tancredo folks were announcing their national referendum on immigration. Amazing how quickly it became unimportant after having their collective arses handed to them by the voters of Utah.

You know, when you're planning on publicly humiliating yourself, it's probably best not to jump up and down for weeks yelling, "Dude, hold muh beer...watch this."
We watched.

If that were the case the results would have been far different last week. They weren't.

Good article. Maybe there's hope yet for a REALISTIC bill against the illegals NOT for them.
A bill that would secure the border, repeal the anchorbaby amendment, NO welfare benefits for illegals including medicaid for any reason including pregnancy, NO social security benefits, Enforce laws against greedy employers who hire the illegals and don't pay or collect taxes on their wages RETROACTIVE, why should legal taxpaying Americans have to foot the bill to support those that break our laws??It's a matter of enforcement!!
The Catholics advocate the lawbreaking and support lawbreakers so they should take care of the illegals, let them use their collections to house, feed, clothe, take care of all the medical needs of the illegals and their HUGE families, especially in light of how vocal they have been supporting the illegals and against the laws of the land.

It would be useful to have testimony from law enforcement officials, with statistics for crimes and prison occupancy be illegals. The chief of police from Philadelphia was on C-Span during the Specter/Kennedy hearing saying how important it is for local officials to not enforce immigration laws so as to allow "witnesses and victims" to come forward without fear.
The whole hearing was a "we love illegals and we need them" testimonial from Bloomberg and a bunch of bleeding hearts.
Also of note: The Union rep from the service workers union also wants the same thing as Bush, et. al.; legal status leading to citizenship for illegals.
I can't wait to see the bushbots reconcile Bush's position vis-a-vis the unions.
