Last night C-SPAN re-aired the memorial service for John Kenneth Galbraith, held on May 31. Most of the speakers were liberals but William F. Buckley, Jr., was one of them. George McGovern spoke at considerable length, mostly about some encounters with Galbraith when McGovern was a freshman member of the House of Representatives back in the 1950s...he hasn't aged much in appearance or speaking style...still the old Scoutmaster, oozing earnestness.

While admitting to being agnostic on what he considers less important issues, Biden said, There are certain core things Im not prepared to back off on, including, he said, a belief that Sens. John Kerry and Russell Feingolds calls to withdraw troops from Iraq by a specified date in mid-2007 is a mistake. So Joe is for staying the course now ??
