B.S.
It rounded of the story. The video has already appeared on Freepers, but it seems that you missed it. It has been over a month and a half now and still nobody has produced any matching stock footage.
The Iranians have been using UAVs for years now. They were the first country to use armed UAVs in combat back in the 1980s. The Iranian Navy has UAVs operating from both ships and shore in the surveillance role and has done so for many years now. They are no strangers to Coalition Naval forces in the region.
It amazes me the about of 'BS' responses to when the claim was made. We've had everything from model boats to old clips of carriers being presented.
It appears to be a shock to many on this thread that the Iranians conduct routine maritime surveillance of Coalition vessels in this manner. Their P-3 Orions, F-27s and Y-12s regularly conduct visual observation passes on naval vessels.
Please give it a rest. If you look back at my posting history then you will see that I have in the past posted on old threads to clear up and try to clarify matters.
I have no agenda. I served 22 years in the military with several tours in the region. This type of recce has been going on for years. Why is it such a surprise? These are international waters and it is very much routine that the Iranians shadow and monitor Coaliton vessels in the region.
What amazes me is the conspiracy theories arising from the footage. What you have to realise is there is a world of difference from what is projected once this type of footage is released from the Iranian military to Iranian government officials. In those hands it is bent out of shape.
My point is that the Iranians do shadow and monitor with unmanned/manned aircraft and vessels. Why is that such a surprise to numerous posters on this and many other forums? It is not exactly rocket science to equip a drone with basic camera equipment and send it out to a location in the Persian Gulf. The US trained the Iranians in the use of SIGINT. Again, it is not exactly rocket science to detect emissions from a carrier battle group as it exercises in the Persian Gulf and to coordinate a recce mission based on the geolocation of detected emissions.
Ya gotta ask somebody a lot younger than me.
