AMEN!
Gore warming the Globe with noxious gases
"Everyone is super stoked on me... even if they don't know it yet." - Al Gore from South Park.
"In the space of one hundred and seventy-six years the Lower Mississippi has shortened itself two hundred and forty-two miles. That is an average of a trifle over one mile and a third per year.
Therefore, any calm person, who is not blind or idiotic, can see that in the Old Oolitic Silurian Period, just a million years ago next November, the Lower Mississippi River was upwards of one million three hundred thousand miles long, and stuck out over the Gulf of Mexico like a fishing-rod.
And by the same token any person can see that seven hundred and forty-two years from now the Lower Mississippi will be only a mile and three-quarters long, and Cairo and New Orleans will have joined their streets together, and be plodding comfortably along under a single mayor and a mutual board of aldermen.
There is something fascinating about science. One gets such wholesale returns of conjecture out of such a trifling investment of fact."
-Mark Twain, Life on the Mississippi
I find Stewart usually entertaining, in spite of his liberal bias. I was annoyed by this one. Stewart had his kneepads on for this one. At one point "Dr. Gore" proclaimed: "The debate about global warming is over". Stewart never flinched. No challenge, no follow up. Stewart just gazed at old crazy Al in a love struck way and let him ramble.
I changed the channel.
Maybe even more beautiful, much later in the discussion, Dr. Gore changed his position once again claiming Ive been trying to tell this story for 30 years.
Gore's like the nut with the "World Ends Tomorrow" sign - who keeps showing up every day in the same place...
Al Gore said...he thought he carried Florida (in 2000)
Gore said the Vitrol in ideology is mainly coming from the Right.
"Al Gore said...he thought he carried Florida (in 2000)"
Old Al was always an odd duck. But I think that really unhinged him. He can't move on, can't get past it, and is deeply disturbed by the event.
The man needs a shrink.
Gore's a bore, and Stewart's show has lost all the talent it once had.
Plus Stewart's magic is over for me.
Al Gore probably has a staff of Shrinks, and is on anti-depressants... which have caused his weight gain.
Al Gore said...he thought he carried Florida (in 2000)I actually watched the algore movie (dragged there by lib friends) and one of the highlights was when the algore showed computer-modelled satellite-photo video of the entire southern half of Florida disappearing under the rising seas. I got the distinct impression that he would have loved to show this scene over and over again but was restrained from doing so by slightly more sober hands (Laurie David, Davis Guggenheim?).
Do you think these people are taking that message to Bush and Cheney? Some of them are. But Bush is insulated -- his staff smiles a lot and only gives him the news that he wants to hear. Unfortunately, they still have this delusion that they create their own reality. As George Orwell wrote, we human beings are capable of convincing ourselves of something that's not true long after the accumulated evidence would convince any reasonable person that it's wrong. And when leaders persist in that error, sooner or later they have a collision with reality, often on a battlefield. That, in essence, is exactly what happened in Iraq. But we have to keep that from happening with the climate crisis. Because by the time the worst consequences begin to unfold, it would be too late. Al Gore
You know, as much as I knew Gore was such a moron, back at the end of the 2000 election I almost (remember I said ALMOST) felt a we bit sorry for the guy at the end of the protest and the ensuing Supreme Court ruling that ended it....but I SO regret I even remotely felt that way now....he seemed at the time like a guy that you could probably sit out on the patio with, not discuss politics, and he would be an ok guy to be around aside from that....BUT that whole 2000 election thing transformed this guy in a bigtime way....he is almost like one of those comic book guys that was beaten down, left for a while, and now has come back crazy as a freakin loon....I mean this guy has deep, deep suppressed issues in my opinion that are to the point of dangerous...I mean seriously, he was always a leftist jerk but he has walked straight over the edge
That is what Jon Stewart asked Gore..about the scene ..with the state of Florida being flooded over with water in his movie...Jon told Gore... Don't you have this strange urge to say "GOTCHA"!
Albert Gore Junior is obviously in the terminal stages of the disease known as "can'tremembershititis".
Al, it's always hot as hell this time of the year in the northern hemisphere.
And yet....some think he is going to make a comeback in 2008 Election. And I understand the compassion thing for Al Gore, Sometimes...Al Gore's pics look like he is about to have a major Stroke.
They love Al Gore over at Huffingtonpost.com. Wouldn't it be great to see old Al run again, and this time he'd base his entire campaign on global warming... Come to NH in February Al, and tell us all about it....
