I don't recall any episodes in this country's history where Catholics, blacks, or gays barraled airplanes into office buildings full of thousands of people. Perhaps I didn't read those chapters, please enlighten me.
I don't think I could vote for any Muslim EVER..but I have to admit in this country where freedom of religion is a founding principle, he does have the right to run for office.

Actually they included freedom of religion from their experience with violent and oppressive versions of CHRISTIANITY taking power in European Govts to persecute those of other religions and even other Christian denominations.

Yes, they didn't want to establish a national church of any Christin denomination. The notion that they somehow therefore wanted freedom for islam is ludicrous. Islam was a menace to freedom then, too--and our Founding Fathers knew it.
