This is certainly not shocking, but it's getting mighty tiring. I long for the day when these fake "Christians" give up trying to pervert true religious principles and beliefs and just start their own "churches".

But of course they won't, as their goal is not just to do their own (rebellious) thing, but to pervert and destroy the good. Dominance and destruction is the name of the game.

For what it's worth, they're not asking the Catholic Church to change its doctrine or rules for religious ceremonies, they're asking them to drop their efforts to make civil laws conform to their views of marriage when other religions and denominations allow same-sex "marriage."

Still no chance in hell, but at least it's not an insane request.

All you Christian non-Catholics who are disappointed in your Churches......go to a Mass with a Catholic friend...or even by yourself.....most Churches have noonday Masses during the week...pop in....check it out....it's not the cult that some have said it is.

They are asking the oldest and largest Christian church to change its dogma (non negotiable points of doctrine) simply because they "feel" bad

No, they're asking the Church not to apply its dogma to the civil laws that apply to people of all religions.

Good luck with that. I doubt any one posting to this thread goes to a pro-homo church.

Christian Clergy Group Demands the Apostle Paul Recant Romans

Christian Clergy Group Demands the Apostle Paul recant his "hateful" letter to the Romans where he plainly said in Chapter 1 that homosexual relations where "shameful lusts" and "indecent acts" for which men would receive "due penalty for their perversion".

Putting aside the open question of what exactly that "due penalty" would be in this life, it is clear, very clear, by other scriptures that people who practice homosexuality would not be able to enter the Kingdom of God.

Any attempts to say otherwise are themselves fraudulent and subject to that same penalty.

I called the number to ask them who the Southern Baptist clergy was and they told it was online. The list of signers doesn't give the denomination of the signers. Here's the number if anyone else would like to call them.

One of these "Reverends" was on The Scott Allen Miller Show on WRKO this morning. "She", would like to see churches get out of the "marriage business" altogether. I guess we'll just have to get over Marriage being a Sacrament. "She" would like to see a "European" style civil union with a quick blessing by the church. Hey, why not a stop by Lenin's Tomb to make the day really special? Yesterday there was a rogue Rabbi on. He was sooooooooooooooooooooooo Gay. They have it wrong. It's the state that should get out of the marriage business.

You are correct, thank you for the correction.

However, I think that, in this case, the Church is doing the right thing, even if for the wrong reasons. There is a very simple mandate for the state to make only laws which encourage the growth of and stability of the society as a whole. This is definitely not the case with homosexual marriage. Marriage has always been the bedrock social institution which has fostered the growth of civilization and the raising of children which leads to the continuation of the civilization and the species. I am of the firm opinion that this should continue to be a guiding priciple of free western society.

No one has denied the person with homosexual tendencies the right to marry, society has simply restricted the right to marry to one man and one woman. Should the non-married person choose to live with a person of the same sex (whatever they might choose to do in their bedroom) that is their privelege. There is nothing in the arguments of the pro-homosexual lobby, however, that convinces me that they should be accorded the same priveleges granted to a man and woman who choose to marry and carry on the human race. It is in society and civilization's best interests to make this union a special one, protected by law, and granted benefits that set it apart from any other union.

If you don't want to believe in what the Christian faith teaches then join another religion.

Create your own religion.. whatever you want.

But don't ask us to change something that's been in the good book for thousands of years.

Right. The queers are asking the Church to stand mute, whilst they make civil laws conform to queer doctrine. "Let's just be reasonable. Do everything OUR way." Typical leftists.

“By proclaiming homosexuality and same-sex unions to be universally immoral and worthy of second-class status under state law, you are sending a message that our faith communities are immoral
.
Well D'OH!

Sometimes certain people DO have motes and beams in their eyes.

No protestant sect (mainline? or otherwise) has any moral superiority to boast over the Catholic Church. The last two Popes in particular, make other contemporary "Christian" leadership look weak-chinned and silly in their advocacy of the innately indefensible.

So much for protestant condemnation of Catholics for diverging from being "scripture based". I can't find anywhere in the Scripture where Jesus says God changed His mind from those Old Testament/Sodom and Gomorrah judgement days, and now it is OK for Peter to marry John with God's blessing.

Signed,
a former Methodist now deeply ashamed of its public pronouncements

Not that they are "fake" Christians so much as self-centeredly re-interpretive ones but...I thought that was what the "Unitarian" Church was all about. Perhaps Unitarians should simply absorb all the non-Catholic sects.
