Pence was bought off in a deal that we are yet to know or understand, but we will learn about at a later date. I don't know what the WH promised, but this goes to a character issue, and Pence has lost my respect for doing the Washington insider thing instead of sticking to his Conservative and Constitutional duties. It's pathetic and shows a complete lack of respect for the rule of law. Shame on him and all the other shamnesty plan proponents.

I've never been quite sure of exactly what all the fuss over Pence (by conservatives) has been, other than the fact that about a year ago some conservatives were impressed when he rewrote Ronald Reagans 1964 "A Time for Choosing" speech, so as to benefit from it without the risk of plagiarism accusations.

Ironically, “Ellis Island Centers” has the same acronym as "Earned Income Credit", which many of the processees of the “Ellis Island Centers” will likely claim.

This article expresses my own opinions -- my high regard for Mike Pence and my dismay that he succumbed to the siren song of a Trojan amnesty program.

I hope that Pence heeds this soft rebuke of a friend.

The long tancredo/bay buchanan knives come out for conservative Mike Pence.

With "allies" such as tancredo/bay buchanan who needs enemies.

I certainly hope that alll the "conservatives" that drooled over Pence (simply because Ann Coulter put her imprimatur upon him) have finally woken up to the reality; Pence is a back-bencher opportunist who's "conservative credentials" (i.e. three or so pieces of legislation) are more parsley than meat and potatoes.

Already, someone on this thread has defended him (sort of) by insinuating that the White House must have brokered "a deal" and "bought him off". I understand the reluctance to actually believe that perhaps Pence was no better than any other Congresscritter (i.e. self-interested, influence-peddling, contribution-seeking slob), but he certainly is no Conservative.

In fact, there are no more conservatives, only people who believe they still are or who portray themselves as such.

Newt Gingrich looks better every day....

Conservative Rep. Steve King (R-IA) hits another home run. I have high hopes that, someday, he will replace Tom "Dungheap" Harkin in the US Senate.

If a Congressman proposes an insane bill, he should be prepared to take criticism.

Pence's plan is amnesty for one reason, illegals and their employers would not be punished for their crimes but in fact rewarded.

With the Senate bill Kyl and Cornyn have stood fast against it but that's because they have their own plan, which Pence has basically introduced in the House. The worst part of it is for the first three years there would be no caps so businesses could technically import the world if they wanted to.

And even if there is no clear "path to citizenship" everyone knows the government has a history of not enforcing the law. Does Pence sincerely believe that after six years the millions of guests, their families and whatever kids are born in the US will leave?

Or as John Derbyshire put it :

"This country already has a guestworker program. 15 years ago I came as one. 'But Derb,' some of you might say, 'You're still here.' Precisely. Aren't guestworker programs wonderful?"

Well criticism from those in straight jackets(tancredo/ bay buchanan) really doesn't mean much, IMO.

Yes I know Steve King "wrote" it, but the rhetoric comes straight from tancredo/ bay buchanan(and probably ghost written by some hack in the tancredo/bay buchanan PAC basement).

HA, yes, it must be some vast consiracy (to borrow a term) that has exposed and co-opted Poster-boy Pence, not his own opportunism, right?

Let me guess; if we dig deep enough we'll find Lyndon LaRouche, the UN, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Rothschilds, the Illuminati, and George Soros all involved in a complex plan to discredit Mike Pence to deny him a nomination for their own sordid ends, right?

Wake up; the guy was a lightweight to begin with, and now he's showed his true colors. He's a POLITICIAN.
