Sorry about the double negative. sb. is something I don't believe.

"That, of course, assumes a zero sum economy, and that is not something I don't believe. Besides, in my family we create jobs for others instead of cultivating resentments and feelings of entitlement."
If you own your own company and hire cheap illegal help, I, and the rest of American taxpayers are subsidizing the health care costs that you benefit from by hiring illegals. I don't have a sense of entitlement it is the companies that hire illegals. Why should I pay for thru my tax dollars heath care costs of companies who hire cheap illegal labor?

"Dane for his opinion on this for seventeen days straight and have yet to get a reply."
Now Now..Dane has been busy posting polls for Cannon.

This is a teriffic developement. I don't care if John Jacob has a few oddball ideas at times. This primary is between an incumbent who isn't serious about border security and a challenger who is.
The D.C. Establishment (Republican & Democrat alike) need to be sent a message.

Three quarters of the illegals don't work for companies at all, bozo.

Cannon has already been humiliated by being forced into a tight race by a political novice in the most conservative congressional district in the nation.
This won't be over even if Cannon manages to pull his open-borders derriere to safety in tomorrow's primary. Not by a long shot. I know rock-solid, highly influential conservatives and party stalwarts who are already spinning up the primary machinery for the next cycle to toss Cannon out on his ear.
Open-borders, shamnesty-loving Cannon will tire and lose, or become bankrupt before the core conservatives of the Third District do.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Feb 9, 2005
NCLR TO HONOR DEMOCRAT SENATOR CHRISTOPHER DODD, CONGRESSMAN CHRIS CANNON, AND THE LLANO GRANDE CENTER AT 2005 CAPITAL AWARDS GALA
Washington, DC The National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S., will hold its 2005 Capital Awards Dinner at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC on Tuesday, March 8. At this years annual gala, NCLR will honor Senator Christopher Dodd (D-CT) and Congressman Chris Cannon (R-UT) for their leadership on legislation that has had a significant impact on the Hispanic community, and the Llano Grande Center for Research and Development a community-based organization located in Elsa, Texas for providing education and youth leadership programs along the Texas-Mexico border.
Senator Dodd is one of the most loyal and committed supporters of the Latino community, said Janet Murguia, NCLR President and CEO. He has worked tirelessly to protect the civil rights of all Americans and has been a champion for early child education, leading the debate to expand the Head Start program and provide universal access to preschool.
Murguia continued, NCLR is also pleased to honor Representative Cannon, who, despite pressure from extremist anti-immigrant forces, has fought resolutely for comprehensive immigration reform. We commend Congressman Cannon especially for his work as chief House sponsor of the Dream Act. If passed, the Dream Act would open the doors to college for the children of undocumented immigrants many of whom have lived in the U.S. their entire lives, excelled, and even become honor roll students in their U.S. high schools.
NCLR will also present the Public Service Award to the Llano Grande Center for Research and Development for its success in building strong leaders in south Texas. NCLR is proud to highlight the amazing work of the Llano Grande Center, which has placed more than 50 students in Ivy League universities since 1993, said Murguia. Its outstanding programs are models for other immigrant communities throughout the country.
Sonia Manzano, acclaimed for her work as Maria on Sesame Street, will serve as Master of Ceremonies at the gala event, and entertainment will include a performance by Latin Jazz All-Stars. Citigroup is the Chair sponsor for the event, and the Fannie Mae Foundation and Frito- Lay, Inc./PepsiCo Inc. are the Vice Chairs.
For tickets and table information, please contact Fernanda Tilleria at (800) 311-NCLR. Members of the media interested in attending should contact Alexandra Jost at (202) 785-1670.

I was just reading the blogs on their local news outlets. They are expecting a record turnout tomorrow -- all because of the primary between Cannon and Jacob. The locals are writing, in the blogs, they are ready to get rid of Cannon. I think that told me a lot more than anything we've read for days here.
For anyone who wants to hear the debate between Jacob and Cannon on the Lonsbury show this morning, here is the link. The debate is in the second hour:

I don't want to pay heath benefits to people who hire cheap illegal labor.
Get It!
To: JCEccles
I agree.
If Cannon does pull it off, I don't think you'll hear any more of that "Comprehensive Reform" coming out of his mouth.
He's gonna be watched like a hawk by his district voters.
To: tennmountainman
If Cannon does pull it off, I don't think you'll hear any more of that "Comprehensive Reform" coming out of his mouth. The goal is to take Cannon down so that we don't hear any more of that "comprehensive reform" (aka. amnesty) crap coming out of ANYONE's mouth. The idea here is to send a message far and wide that amnesty or anything that looks like amnesty or anything that is even in the same room with amnesty for illegal aliens will be a dead, DEAD, DEAD issue.

Bush and santorum endorsed Arlen Spector as well. Bush endorses lincoln chafee. Whats your point?
You are so desperate. You post so hyperactively on these threads i can't help but wonder, how much is chris cannon paying you?
Your guy is in the fight for his life because hes an open borders rino, yea he votes a lot of the right way on most things, but on this issue he is dead wrong. In this political climate immigration is the big issue, and it may very well cost him his seat.

With the employee mentality you exhibit, you probably don't pay anything you are griping about. I'll bet, like most people, you have never written a check to the IRS. Not only don't you pay for any one else's benefits, you don't pay your own. Get it!
I probably agree with you on illegal aliens, however.
To: ClaireSolt
I pay more than you can propably add.
People who hie illegals get cheap labor, but we taxpayers are paying for health care for these illegals...not the businesses who hire them.
Hire americans, pay them a decent wage.
