At least one conclusion can be drawn from this thread. If the most likely scenario does happen, most people are going to be very surprised.
We (the USA and real Americans--not the foreign-identity cheerleaders for Old Europe in our midst) have a right to assist Israel, and Israel has a right to defense. I hope that with our USA assistance, IAF pilots etch an enormous, burning Magen David into the rural Iranian landscape, as they poke successive holes into the mullahs' toys.
And after that, the people of most of western Europe should get down on their knees and thank Israel for defending their retched, rotting, anti-Israel countries (Germany being the only predominantly pro-Israel country among them).

Cheney's statement:
1) If Israel is attacked, the United States will "obviously" militarily support its close Mideast ally, US Vice President Dick Cheney said in interview with CNBC television.
2) Cheney was asked if Washington would come to the military assistance of Israel if Iran or any of the terrorist groups it allegedly sponsors attacked Israel.
3) "I don't think there's any question but what we would support Israel under ***those circumstances.***
***
The key elements in Cheney's statement:
1) "If Israel is attacked..."
2) if Iran...attacked Israel."
3) "...under those circumstances."

Mysterio's statement from post #177:
"So Israel lobs a pre-emptive nuke..."
What you've done here Mysterio - is point out what Cheney said the U. S. might do - -- - if Israel ***is attacked.***
And what I have stated (and what this whole thread pertains to) - is that Israel does a pre-emptive attack (starting/initiating military action) - - which Mysterio - - is a totally different circumstance - from what Cheney is referring to.
It is you Mysterio - who have made logically incorrect assertions/insertions/quotes - and the readers easily recognize this.
Good try (deceiving) - but "no cigar" Mysterio.

Mysterio, you are now - - allowed to - - start over.
Unless that Patriots are PAC III's, you've got a much slimmer chance of negating an inbound warhead. This isn't my call to make, I just offered some friendly advice. If the wind's blowing wrong...
Now Mysterio, you need to be honest with yourself, with me and more importantly - with the reader!
So you are going on the record saying that the US will not support Israel militarily when the entire Middle East Swarms in after the pre-emptive nuke? Please clarify.
The have the latest Patriots(PAC-III) deployed around their cities and key facilities.

Maybe you think that including a smattering of personal abuse in your reply will disguise the fact that you didn't address the actual point in any way at all?
"We're not talking about completely destroying an entire country. We're talking about destroying the Iranian capability of developing and using nuclear weapons which they have stated they would use on Israel when they have the means to do so."
You're wrong. Destroying an entire country (or even 2 or 3) is being advocated by several posters on this thread.
Great Post.
Glad to see you have pulled back within the confines of truthful discussion. However, you are now putting words in my mouth but regardless, I'll provide my best reply as to what should happen in this particular circumstance/your post #185.
I'd like to think that if it looks as if Israel were to be 'swarmed' over and obliterated, that the U S might come to their aid.
(I'd suggest no ground troops be inserted but only selected air power as a last resort to prevent a Gen. Custer scenario - but then again, I'm not a military strategist/just my opinion)
"NEVER AGAIN"
