do you suppose all this is an elaborate shakedown to get more food, etc., ala the time he met with Halfbright? Does he think lightening will strike twice (that the U.S. is soooo foolish as to fall for his tricks again?)

Kim Jong Il has given clear-cut answers to all the theoretical and practical issues arising in strengthening the WPK to be Kim Il Sung's Party for ever. Yeah, it's easy for Kim Jong Il -- here's his "clear-cut" solution: if you disagree with him he will kill you.
See how simple that was?

He put forward the program on Party building for imbuing the Juche idea into the whole party... In other words, if you can't co-opt a religion and make yourself it's god, make one up yourself. Seems to work for "Rev. Moon" and L. Ron Hubbard.
There's a blog you can read about the joys of being KJI's tool. Juche Girl
One can also find out what year they were born on the Juche calendar. Juche Calendar converter
There's even a Juche "study group" in England. Juche Idea Study Group of England
I have read this book on Juche from a Christian point of view. It's very educational. Juche: A Christian Study of North Korea's State Religion

I disagree.
This is the most subtle news release I've EVER seen from KCNA. There's no "DEAR LEADER" or "GLORIOUS LEADER" and there's no mention of the "American puppets", the South Koreans. Someone's trying to look reasonable.

I've been there.
Spent 1962 and 1963 there myself. Still, at least a million dead in Seoul if the stuff hits the fan

Kimster's got a lot on his plate and he's trying hard.
I tried to help him out but he won't answer my emails.
He's still pissed about what my Dad did over there some decades ago, I guess.

Lots of delayed deaths, I think ... the civil infrastructure did NOT strike me as being particularly robust. Certainly not up to USA standards.

Didn't he also invent the sandwich a year or two ago? I don't see how any of these so called accomplishments can stand up to that.

I remember hearing it on the radio I think. I don't remember what he called it.
