The "Glory and Praise" hymnal contains some of the most banal, self-centered, heretical texts set to the most awful music ever published. It is bad from a theological standpoint, bad from a musical standpoint, boring to sing, excruciating to listen to. Benedict XVI condemned this sort of "pop" music in his book The Spirit of the Liturgy (written when he was Cardinal) as antithetical to Catholic worship.
Obviously, that's not true for EVERY hymn in the book (there must be a few good ones that crept in un-noticed.)
But this sort of music is one of the reasons that the post-Vatican II Catholic church has not been taken seriously.
Well, then they'd be surprised by the official history of the Anglican Church on its website (about 80 pages of which were condensed to 4 sentences).
