9 Mexican drug cartels take over U.S. cities WorldNetDaily ^ | June 18, 2006 | Joseph Farah

Mexican drug cartels operating in cities in the U.S. are buying up legitimate businesses to launder money and using some of the proceeds to win local mayoral and city council seats for politicians who can shape the policies and personnel decisions of their police forces, according to Rep. Tom Tancredo "The Tijuana-based Felix drug cartel and the Juarez-based Fuentes cartel began buying legitimate business in small towns in Los Angeles County in the early 1990s," "They purchased restaurants, used-car lots, auto-body shops and other small businesses. One of their purposes was to use these businesses for money-laundering operations.

Once established in their community, these cartel-financed business owners ran for city council and other local offices. Over time, they were able to buy votes and influence in an effort to take over the management of the town. They wanted to create a comfort zone from which they could operate without interference from local law enforcement."

...an example, L.A. County city of Bell Gardens – corrupt elected officials under the influence of drug lords actually tried to shut down the police department. City officials who would not cooperate with the Mexican-born city manager were forced out of office," he writes. "Eventually, the L.A. County attorney's office moved in, and the city manager was prosecuted on charges of corruption.

Unfortunately, Bell Gardens was only the tip of the iceberg. Other Los Angeles suburbs – including Huntington Park, Lynwood and Southgate – became targets for the cartels."

Tancredo reports he has had confidential briefings with top officials in big-city law enforcement who say there are entire cities under the virtual control of Mexican criminal street gangs and their associated businesses, in some cases, making it dangerous for county, state and national law enforcement officers to venture in and rendering any interdepartmental cooperation impossible.

Maywood a city nearby Bell Gardens, controlled by shady characters actually closed the traffic division of the police department recently so that illegal immigrants could not be cited for violations and the city is pushing to rename one of the city's elementary schools after former Mexican President Benito Juarez; Maywood disbanding part of their police division confirms Tancredo's accusations that a few of the small city's in East LA county and elsewhere across the US are being taken over by corrupt Mexican National representatives. The same as a few months ago when they were breathlessly reporting that we had 6 suitcase nukes planted in the country ready to blow at any moment. In other words, WND is full of crap.

I can find nothing and I even looked on chris's website, "minutemanhq" and could not find a single pic of such a fence. I have had face to face meetings with the folks that fly for ABP and if they say 2.5 miles of single barbed wire fence, no trenches, no "layers of razor wire" then it is not there. As for $150.00 a foot...

"Raul Yzaguirre, former chief executive at National Council of La Raza and now executive director for a civil rights center at Arizona State University, describes the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps as "part of a hate-mongering group from the lunatic fringe."

"U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., among the nation's most zealous anti-immigration politicians, says Simcox is a stirring example of citizen action: "I believe much of the success of our movement is a result of . . . the Minuteman Project. I give him enormous credit for what he has done."

Thanks for the link.

He was arrested and plead guilty to carring a gun in a national park.

We conservatives consider federal gun laws to be unconstitutionhal and therefore completely moral to break.

"CHD volunteers will now patrol the border with over 100 fully armed Citizens who consider themselves members of the unorganized state militia; we have the legal right and moral obligation as per our Arizona State Constitution and Federal Constitution and our respect for American citizens."

"A message to the world: Do not attempt to cross the border illegally; you will be considered an enemy of the state; if aggressors attempt to forcefully enter our country they will be repelled with force if necessary!"

Wonder if Chris Simcox's letter might have more to do with the decrease in the invasion than 55 Guardsmen?

Border Fence Scam?
Simcox Fence Project Raises Doubts

At left, border fence project as promoted by Chris Simcox. At right, actual fence as built.
American Patrol - Thousands of Americans have donated hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars, to build a fence on the border to stop illegal aliens. One man mortgaged his home and donated $120,000 that otherwise would have gone to Disabled American Veterans. Chris Simcox continues to sell the plan as an Israeli- style fence when in fact the only thing built is a five- strand barbed wire livestock fence that a rancher says won't keep illegals out. "I have warned from the beginning not to donate money to any such effort until the promoters produce a building permit that includes the specifications as being sold by those promoters," said Glenn Spencer of American Patrol. Spencer has property on the border in Arizona.

Well, perhaps now the folks at MCDC (and there are a LOT of well meaning patriots in that org) will pull up stakes and join up with Mr. Gilchrist at the real Minuteman Project.

Can't wait to see chris's reaction to this. He have been calling us "renegades" and "unauthorized" for over a year. Reality is Texas Minutemen is one of a VERY few group sanctioned by the real Minuteman Project and has regular, almost daily contact with Mr. Gilchrist. We had folks in the Laredo area this past weekend scouting and meeting with the land owners and are securing positions to conduct the fall project as we speak.

BTW everyone, after the original project and two more 30 day projects we are so broke it AIN"T funny. Please donate (Texas Minutemen Home Page, left side.)

THANKS!!

The Constitution defines citizenship. Immigration laws are valid laws unlike federal gun laws which you and your boy Bert Gonzales seem to be so fond of.

The Minutemen also have built nearly 10 miles of border fence that's styled after Israel's Gaza Strip fence, with four layers of razor wire and fences, he said.

Last I heard, they'd built 2.5 miles of a a 5-strand barbed wire cattle fence. Got any pics of the Gaza-style one?

The group has hired a contractor to help because it's having trouble recruiting volunteers during the extreme June heat.

The "contractor" is a lawyer for their publicity firm, right? The one who is supposed to be in charge of their financial reports, but hasn't produced any yet?

I'm guessing the volunteers didn't want to waste their time building a cattle fence for the rancher, but I could be wrong.

The rancher has already stated that the fence will not stop people & is not meant to stop people but will keep his cattle in & Mexican cattle out.
