The man in Youssifiyah said he would not cooperate.

"I will not do it even if they pay one million dollars," he said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he feared retribution. "They deserve all that they are facing ... we are living a hard life because of them."

Translated: "I had a cushy spot under Saddam -- now all gone. So I am going to mess up my own nest in protest."

The president of Iraq should pass an emergency measure that guarantees the immediate death penalty to anyone caught participating in the insurgency. This is a message the insurgents will actually understand (jail time is a joke to them). You get caught, you get executed, period. In the long run this will save many lives.

Just waiting for the tape to coincide with our weekday news cycle. These bastards know how to play the American media.

I certainly hope that they do a better job than they did with my brothers-in-arms in Vietnam.

I wish they would offer to have our soldiers get those GPS tracking devices implanted just for such a situation as this. They could have them removed when they return home or are no longer in combat zones.

I find it pretty amazing and extraordinary that the war has gone on this long without MIAs or captured soldiers. It says allot for the kind of disciplined and professional soldiers we have on the battlefield. God Bless them All.

Prayers up for these two men.

um, all the insurgents have to do is locate the tag and cut off the tagged body part or cut out the device.
not saying it isn't a good suggestion, but given the range and the ease of locating....it seems like there is a downside.

my suggestion is to get mafia on the insurgents.
kill them. but before you kill them take out a few of their family members to make sure they get the message.
we can hire death squads/merc/goons to do this sort of work for us if we are worried about "appearances". (we've done it before, most nations have, and some would suggest this is already being done)

no not really.

I honestly don't know one Marine that would allow himself to be "captured". He might get knocked unconscious and then captured, but not one I know will ever surrender.

Not cause of bravery, but out of fear of the video taped beheading to follow. In order to spare family, friends and themselves, they'll go down shooting then "frag" out or die trying....that's why we treat prisoners nice, in order to give the enemy an "option" besides fighting to the death.

Please pray for those poor men and their family. May God grant them comfort and strength during this time of fear and uncertainty.

Now load up boys and lets go hunting... sleep all day, play all night...

The mafia has to be killed. That much is true. If you start killing innocents (i.e. the unaffected family of some mafiosis) you do not differ from the mafia anymore. Since America is a CIVILIZED nation it should abstain from such actions. To massacre civilians is restricted to islamic (or other) beasts.

Soldiers know that the very worse thing that can happen is to be captured. That must be avoided at ALL costs.

Still saying Texas-sized prayers here in Houston for these two guys - as I predicted, one of them is one of our homeboys, but that's all I know - haven't seen the TV story yet and we're in the midst of very bad storms, so I won't know more or be able to post more for a while.

God bless our boys!
