If IJ can't, i will:

Apparently, NK TV flashed a message to all North Koreans to raise their flags at 2pm Korean Time (11pm Pacific) and stand by for a message from the government "shortly".

As of now (0100am Pacific), nothing yet.

Lil' Kim had a serious bout of Small Manonitis today, it seems.

Fox Radio news reporting 3 hours after the time North Koreans were told to tune into a special broadcast. According to the correspondent, the only thing showing on NK t.v. was an old movie. I wonder what it was? My guess, something with the 3 Stooges.

The nice thing about ballistic missiles is that the trajectory is pretty predictable. NORAD et al would have a pretty damn good idea of where it would come down within a minute or two of launch. The US ABM capability is not flawless, but I would be willing to bet that they could wax an errant ballistic missile if they had to, particularly given warning.

Of course, if it came to that North Korea would receive some decisive punishment. Mr. Ronery is certifiable, but I don't know if he is delusional enough for that.

Kim Jong-il had a state dinner with the Mexican prez. After filling himself with refried beans and burritos, no doubt the NK leadership was anticipating the birth of a new successor to Kim.

Constipation has delayed the announcement.

They're not gonna fire a nuke at America. Even if they tried it wouldn't make it.

A top secret Special Forces reconnaissance team has managed to get out some video of the launch of new North Korean missile which took place at 0100 ET:

I remember a person, early in this thread, who asked if this was just an exercise on the part of a nutty lonely man. He or she was shouted down harshly. The shouter called a him/her a "dipshit" if I remember right.

It sounds like he is trying to convince himself of that

I'm sure he is.

I'd give him longer than 6 months. He hasn't really been able to settle down into a regular routine yet with the installation of his proper equipment etc still up in the air, but once that's all done it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see his move back here to the U.S. He may not admit it but if he planned on making Manila his permanent home I believe he would have sold his property in Pahrump. There is the problem though that could also stall his return and that would be him being able to get his new wife to join him.

As a general principle, I agree with that. The only caveat is that Mr. Ronery is a bloody whackjob. That said, I'm not sure that his lieutenants would be nutty enough to go through with it even if he is. Insanity is not particularly infectious, though the 9mm brain hemorrhage is surprisingly virulent on occasion.

Even if they tried it wouldn't make it.

Agreed. As I said, our ABM capability is still pretty marginal in all likelihood, but it is not entirely flacid either. I am pretty damn sure we can splash a random 1960s era ICBM if we really needed to. I fully expect that we have Aegis assets sitting offshore that know a thing or two about ballistic missiles.

North Korea's missile launch unlikely on Sunday

TOKYO - North Korea is unlikely to test-fire a long-range missile on Sunday despite reports that a launch is imminent, Jiji Press news agency said, quoting senior officials of Japan's Defence Agency.

"There won't be a launch today," one was quoted as saying without elaborating.

Defence Agency chief Fukushiro Nukaga separately said the agency had not observed" any particular change" which would indicate an impending launch, Jiji reported.
