But wait—Gore fails to mention something interesting. Temperatures go up first and then the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increases some 800 or more years later.

IMHO, that undermines his whole argument.

Cherrypicking your data and shining the light on what you want to be seen while ignoring what you don't is crappy science. To say the last 14 or 20 years have been the warmest - and therefore the globe is heating up - is laughable.....as if such a small amount of time means anything in the timeframe of the earth's life. I cannot believe people take this doofus seriously, or his scare tactics.

Oh darn, I was really looking forward to the glaciers all melting overnight and the tsunamis coming in from every direction all at once and people running and screaming ...

Global Temperature and Atmospheric CO2 over Geologic Time

As you can see, we are 10 degrees BELOW Average Global Temperature for the last 600 Million Years. Global warming?---I think not!

Me too. I got my police scanner all hooked up to a recorder so I could capture hundreds of hours of frantic calls for help. Guess I'll have to find something else to do now.

He shows computer animated maps in which most of southern Florida, southern Manhattan.......are inundated.

Areas where people voted for him in 2000. Coincidence or Divine Wrath?

Well, the "consensus" of climate scientists as represented in the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is that sea level is likely to rise between 4 inches to 35 inches with a central value of 19 inches.

Of course any additional water area will cause cooling and the models that create these sea level rises are suspect themselves. That's my main criticism of Bailey, he doesn't seem to understand or care about the inadequacies of the models.

Great Post. On another board about a health issue, someone added go see this movie.
I said go see "Flight 93" and stay out of politics on this board.
Suddenly my comments were offensive. This will be more ammo to my retort. Thanks.

I think Algore writes the weather scripts for your daily (gasp!) forecast and the hurricane (oh no, we're going to die) warnings.

Guess we'll have to wait for the bird flu epidemic.

I wanted to see Geraldo standing on a freeway overpass in Florida with water up to his chin screaming that he saved everyone.

You mean that I built the beach & future marina on our South Dakota property for nothing?

I was planning on the income from that new ocean resort for our retirement.

Nineteen inches is not nothing ...

Sounds rather like a line out of ''The Godfather'', describing Santino.

An illiterate line, to be sure. ONE inch is ''not nothing''. So are 3 inches.

These bloody morons, why the devil does anyone pay them the slightest heed, barring of course ambition to power?

I'm trying to figure out the writer's thought process. First he states:

"Gore points out that temperatures and carbon dioxide go up in tandem over the last four ice ages. But wait—Gore fails to mention something interesting. Temperatures go up first and then the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increases some 800 or more years later."

But then he comes to the conclusion that:

"Gore has won the global warming debate—the world is warming as a consequence of human activity, chiefly the loading up of the atmosphere with carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels."

Actually I don't think there is much too understand - not much thought, and not enough processing.
