Sadly, I begin to believe that the best thing to happen to our country will be the death of the Vietnam generation. It is that obsession that continuously pulls us down. They certainly aren't "The Greatest Generation". Too bad that generation cannot return.

Our 20 somethings, self-involved whiners when they were teens, are turning out to be breathtaking citizens. Bet this bunch will come to be known in similar terms to the generation of WWII.

I was poking fun at polls and the usual suspects. Sorry I forgot the /sarc tag.

...the best thing to happen to our country will be the death of the Vietnam generation.

You may want to think before making a statement like that. It is the Vietnam generation that are in the street and in the faces of those protesting our military, our country, our President and every anti-American sentiment they can think of. The Vietnam era adults are the ones shouting NEVER AGAIN!!! They are the ones writing, calling, withholding their money from anti-American businesses and politicians. WE are the ones fighting the take over of our country.

It is not generation Xers that make up the majority of those engaging in the domestic fight and it certainly is not "The Greatest Generation".

Don't get me wrong, there are many from those groups that are in the fight. I have met many of the Gen.X, or whatever they are called these days, that give me great hope for the future of our country. I have met many from the "greatest generation" that are doing what they can to curb what began during their reign of control. Perhaps they were too tired from fighting communism/fascism abroad, or too busy making a living and raising their families to fight it at home. Where were they when their sons were being demonized during the Vietnam generation?

I understand we all go through stages in our lives. Twenty years ago, my efforts and energies were concentrated elsewhere. Today my children's efforts and energies are focused elsewhere. A dear octogenarian friend recently told me it was my turn. She had fought the fight in her time, and it was time for my generation to step up and take over and for her generation to relax and enjoy what life they have left. I agree.

There have been good guys and bad guys in every generation. As we are witnessing today, the handful of bad guys get all the attention, while those that fight quietly behind the scenes or on the front line are ignored. Instead of disparaging an entire generation by the actions of a few, or idolizing a generation that is fading from few, join the fight with the Vietnam generation and make a difference.

No problem.....I was just checking. Sad one has to use a < /s > tag when making those types of statements, but it is necessary, even on FR these days.

The biggest mistake was going into Iraq," said David Smith, 38, a salesman from Springfield, Mo., and Democrat who leans independent. "If hindsight was 20-20, they should have thought about the repercussions."

________

That's not what most of us in Springfield think...they had to work hard to find this guy.

That was great. My only regret is that we left enough of that creep to even identify.

Have you heard he was alive long enough to recognize who got him? Tonight Mort Kondracke said he was glad "he was alive long enough to see who did this to him--that it was Americans--before he went to Hell."

The men who went are a great bunch and every bit as good as their Dads. Some are my friends, I'm proud to say. I am in awe of how classy they are.

Even a French sponsered poll can't get Americans to agree our troops our baby killers.

The MSM can spin and lie about the war all they want. When it comes to our troops they do NOT have the ability to slander them as they did in 'Nam. Americans have felt guilty about that ever since, and will NOT allow their brothers, their sisters, their moms and days, their uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, friends, collegues...to be spit on and dragged into the streets to be paraded in shame by the media, Murtha and Kerry.

It ain't happening, no matter how long you spit on their MSM. Give it up.

I am reminded of something I wrote during the 2004 campaign. I asked my readers to think of the Vietnam Veterans in their lives, and then asked something like, "Does he seem like the kind of guy who'd keep an ear collection, or use his chopper's rotor wash to blow a six year old to his doom in the path of a speeding truck? Is he the type who would stand around doing nothing while allied soldiers gang raped a bunch of North Vietnamese nurse and even violated them to death? Well, John Kerry says your vet is that kind of guy; in fact, he's staked his reputation on it."
