"have been talking privately with McKinney's office"

Out of public sight, out of public mind, huh!

Nothing will happen to her, nothing will happen to Patches Kennedy, and nothing will happen to William Jefferson (D) La. NOTHING!!!

What? You don't think the humiliation of even being accused is punishment enough?

...prosecutors investigating the confrontation between Rep. Cynthia McKinney of Georgia and a Capitol police officer have been talking privately with McKinney's office in hopes of resolving the case without the spectacle of an indictment and trial...

WTF ARE THEY THINKING???

Stories like this one are almost always an intentional leak of what is to come. It sounds like the deal's been done. She won't have to admit guilt and a day later her supporters will hold a press conference stating that this proves her innocence. I guarantee you that this won't sit well with the Cap. Police but I expect orders came from much higher up to end the matter.

The issue is not race but status as a Congressman. Both parties are reluctant to go after each other over personal relapses because both sides have members who can be jerks in public, have fidelity, drinking and drug problems. It is like mutual assured destruction if one side decides to go after the other. Look what happened when the Dems attempted to go after the GOP on corruption, within weeks three Dems were on the front page for abuse of power, driving under the influence and bribery.

Ha, I needed a good laugh. I tell ya ... these people have no moral compass or they would have never done what they did, or they would have had the decency of resigning their positions to save what little self-respect they have.

And just think in the coming decades, the high schoolers you see today will be in those very same seats in congress ... I just hope they loose the nose rings and arm tattoos by then.

The only deal to be made is : Who will hold up the corner of the rug when it gets swept under.

Maybe that is what 'Patches' Kennedy was talking about when
he said he wanted to be treated like an African-American

the capital police are nothing but doormen for these lusers. How many of us get this kind of free pass.
I really want to know who called and told the troopers to let this obvious felony go

The Cop will appologise and the Cap. Police will give her $1,000,000. Plus, she will get her choice of Republican congressmen to serve her for 1 month.

Doncha know. Funny how this is the expectation.

Then she'll right a book on how hard it is to succeed in this country as a black female congresswoman and make millions there.

How is it? "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."

If so, would set a bad precedent for the Capitol Police.
McKinney shouldn't be the standard.

As an Atlanta resident I feel entitiled to a trial.

Ditto. The goal should be correcting her behavior. At this point she lives as though she is accountable to no one... except CAIR.

I think an above board rule that Congressmen are treated like us serfs when dealing with sworn LEOs would be a great start.

Both the Patches and McKinney cases should be adjudicated as if they were thee or me. If the prosecutor is sucking up to the defendant, then that standard is not being met.
