She only made it worse when she made the very publicized speech about how being a "black woman" was the cause of this. Capitol police couldn't let that one sit.
Case might have been forgotten if she didn't mouth off.

It sounds like the prosecutors are the ones hoping to avoid "an embarrassing trial." What is their motivation to do that? Let McKinney's lawyers carry the water.
Unless the prosecutors are reluctant to prosecute. Because she's black. Who says racism is gone?
