This is one of those things that people should just get over. Not fair, but life is not always fair. Gets my vote for dumb comment of this day. What the cop should have done the instant the Buckwheat look-alike touched him was execute a body-slam face-plant with a knee in the back of ol' Cinny. People could just get over that too.

The Capital Police are licensed police officers but are considered equivalent to security guards by most prosecutors. I spoke to the office of Ken Wainstein about 3 months ago and the girl that answered the phone got very irate and said,"what do you expect, prosecute a black congresswoman?". After chastising me for a couple more minutes about people like me calling the office complaining, she went on and said,"don't expect a prosecution anytime soon" and then hung up. I figure they're just living up to their word so I gave up on any prosecution. I don't know what kind of so-called remedy they are seeking since striking a police officer is a crime that is either prosecuted or in this case not.

This thoroughly disgusts me, if I hit a cop I'd be under the jail. If I run my car into a barrier at 3 AM and get out stumbling I'm going to jail, that night, no press conference, no fake rehab stint. Why is it that celebrities, politicians and corporate bigwigs get to live by one set of laws while the rest of us get a different set?
Equal protection under the law... my ass.

I agree dumb comment and was not paying attention either. The truth is I was answering a post from someone who had said that it is possible nothing will come of it and unfortunately nothing will be made of it. We can't make it happen after writing letters and yelling about it.

MSM just went completely quiet after the first week.
I suspect there would have been 24/7 coverage of ANY Republican who ASSAULTED a POLICEMAN. Then after about a month there would be weekly hour shows devoted to the Republican Rage Syndrome and then daily updates.
NOT TO MENTION dozens of Grand Jury LEAKS to keep the story on the front burner!!
Anyone doubt this?

"Frank Carter, former head of the public defender service in Washington whose clients included White House intern Monica Lewinsky" doesn't seem to have much of a moral compass, does he?
