Does Howard have a basketball or football team? I never heard of one, but then I don't care about those sports very much.
Good questions both. I don't know the answer to either. In general I don't count colors.
I have an easy way to "solve" this "problem". Just give every 15 year old in the country a college diploma! That way they feel no pressure from society to study, or pass high school; there can be no possible racial imbalance in the percentage of diplomas blacks receive; and we save gobs of taxpayer money currently wasted in educating kids who shouldn't be in college to begin with.
The point here is that, since the referendum, they shouldn't be admitting unqualified students, irrespective of race.
If their primary and secondary schools would teach reading, writing, and math, instead of Islam and the historical contribution of the GLBTQ community, they'd have more minority students qualified for selective universities.
"That may be true, but you also have to look at the demographics of California. According to the 2000 census, one in every third resident of California is Hispanic or Latino, one in every 10 is Asian, and one in every two is white. I agree that the Hispanic contingent does look high given the drop out rate of Hispanics from high school."
Well, I was merely judging from the median LSAT scores. They're about 153.5 for whites, 152 for Asians, and 145.5 for Hispanics. That's a pretty huge difference--as in more than a standard deviation between the previous two groups and the latter.
There definitely appears to be some affirmative action involved.
they shouldn't be admitting unqualified students, but unfortunately, they still are. They have to let a certain number of minorities in for diversity, so they drop their standards.
BTW: All of the students there are Asian too.
Precisely, see my other post. UCLA is just very tough to get into. I don't care if your black, white, or Asian. The article neglects to mention how many blacks even bothered applying.
Best wishes to your sister!
