At a news conference in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Reid said he would continue to accept free tickets. "I'm going to go whenever I have the opportunity," he said.

How can Reid be expected to vote on legislation regarding boxing if he has never seen a boxing match. He was simply doing research.
I hear his next project is prostitution...

Many people have pride in what they can obbtain through their own efforts. A main souce of pride with Democrats is what they can get for free from others.

found at http://www.boston.com/travel/getaways/us_southwest/articles/2003/06/22/at_a_championship_fight_a_lot_of_the_action_is_outside_the_ring/John Piet, a senior research analyst for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, estimates that on average, each of the last five professional fights here brought in up to $7 million in non-gaming revenue: transportation, lodging, ticket sales, dining, and shopping.
Ticket sales are no small part of that total; tickets to the Ruiz-Jones fight cost from $200 to $3,000 (for ringside seats). "A lot of the people a fight brings in are usually higher-income visitors," said Piet.
Someone help me. Isn't $3000. more than the minimum donation allowed to a politician during a campaign?

At the time, McCain and Reid were pushing legislation to create a federal boxing commission. So... is this looking bad for them?... seems to me that the MSM could spin this in their favor..
{sarc} So nice to see McCain getting along so bipartisanly... {/sarc}"

That's different. Reid is a Democrat, you see . . .

Just like the Jefferson scandal the MSM are completely ignoring this Reid situation - We all know if the roles were reversed and this was Tom Delay it would be 24/7 headline news - They would print 10 stories saying the exact same thing just in order to keep this headline going (if this were Tom Delay).

It seems like Reid is going to hang his hat on the "technicality" that his ring-side seats (credentials) have no stated face-value. Sounds like what the definition of "is" is again ; )

IMO no politician or government employee should accept any type of freebie. I am in the private sector, when a salesmen paid for one lunch the 2nd time I paid.
I cannot be bribed but most politicians can. Why else would they spend millions to get a job that only paid hundreds of thousands?

The maximum is $2000.0, I think.

John McCain is addicted to BIG GOVERNMENT. Where in the Constitution does it say "regulate everything?" In fact, it don't. It says all subjects not addressed are reserved for the States. Harry Reid is a mean spirited crook. His sons are lobbyists. Do you think their Dad being Minority Leader has anything to do with their business? I guess CULTURE OF CURRUPTION is what happens to the other party, right Harry?
