"BTW, this yahoo no longer considers herself one of the President's "base" members. I am a part of the conservative base, not the GOP's, and they had better learn the distinction."

Count me in complete agreement. Very well said.

Definition of 'nativism' according to Wikipedia:

In politics, nativism is the advocacy of sociopolitical policies that favor the interests of established inhabitants (i.e. "natives") over those of immigrants, especially if the immigrant culture is markedly different from the native culture. Nativism is a hostile and defensive reaction to the influx of immigrants. Nativism opposes acculturation and assimilation of the immigrant cultures. Thus, it is typically associated with fears that certain new immigrants might inject political and cultural values that threaten the prevailing culture.

I hold the opinion that what we are opposing is not 'immigration' in the true sense of the word, and we are certainly not 'nativists' according to the above definition. People who early in the 20th century opposed immigration from, say, Italy were nativists: they just didn't want any immigration from 'unclean' cultures, regardless of whether the immigrants wanted to become Americans. I don't think that that's a common belief nowadays: most of us welcome immigrants who share the American dream.

Most of us on the right oppose current 'immigration' policies because they have nothing to do with real immigration: they're geared towards establishing voting blocs (helping the 'Rats) or establishing a pool of cheap labor (helping the country club Pubbies). What the 'Rat and country clubber elites (this unfortunately includes the GWB administration) fail to recognize is that their policies will create a permanent UNASSIMILATED underclass of FOREIGNERS (*not* immigrants), who carry no allegience to America and are often openly hostile to us. Consider the recent 'immigrant rights' marches (organized by America-hating communist organizations such as ANSWER), where marchers carried Mexican (and even Soviet) flags, signs claiming the US as Mexican territory telling us gringos to go back to Europe, and posters praising communist murderer Che Guevara. This is just the beginning: consider the violence that happened in France last fall as a harbinger of things to come if we do not safeguard our sovereignty.

So if that means adopting some policies that the elites may scorn as 'nativist', so be it. Memo to potential illegals in Mexico and elsewhere: go through the process, come here legally, learn English, and become American, and we'll welcome you with open arms. Sneak in, demand 'rights', refuse to learn the language, and retain loyalty to your hellhole of a homeland, and we'll scorn you as much as you scorn us, and demand that you leave. It's just that simple.

Under the Senate bill, if an illegal alien applies for amnesty, the U.S. government cannot use any of the information for any other purpose. If an applicant in a burst of brutal honesty admits that he is Osama bin Laden's cousin, or a member of al Qaeda, the government cannot use this information for national-security purposes. If a federal agent, in a burst of patriotism, sends the information on to the FBI or Homeland Security, anyway, he is subject to a $10,000 fine (five times what the alien has to pay to get amnesty). Employers of illegals get a pardon for all taxes that went uncollected in the past.

I'm proud to be a stumpjumper who wants this Rat/RINO amnesty bill killed.

I used to go to Kos-land to read reactionary silliness, but that isn't necessary anymore, I can see it at FR every day now.

Yep, every day. They won't be happy until the Dims are back in power.
