I read the Issa remarks. Issa of course is not a person I admire. I would vote for the Dem if I lived in his district. I reached that opinion a long time ago. If you don't like how judges or prosecutors enforce and interpret the law, just impeach, convict and remove them.

The inmates have taken over the asylum, and that's a fact that can no longer be disputed.

Newt Gingrich hopped on the caboose of this train today as the engine is going over the cliff.

So much for the "Contract with America" where Congresscritters are to be held to the same standard of conduct and law as the hoi polloi.

I must be having a nightmare, either that or the Republican party truly is the stupid party.

I was beginning to believe the water was circling the bowl but now that people like Hastert and Sensenbrenner are willing to go to the mat for Jefferson, who has ignored a grand jury subpeona

I have a lot of faith in Sensenbrenner...Not so much with Hastart...I had been thinking there's more to this than we know about...

Then, that beacon of leadership comes up with this:
"Ten days after the fact, we have never been told why the pending subpoena against a member [of Congress] could not have been enforced consistent with the law," said Mr. Conyers.

Conyers is suggesting the Judicial branch didn't follow the letter of the law...And a number of Republicans apparently, are siding with Conyers...Like I say, may be more to this than we know...

Well the next disappointment is that Bush might trim. We shall see. I no longer repose much confidence in Bush, which saddens me. greatly. Frankly to be honest with you, I look foward to the end of his presidency, in January of 2009 of course, least I be misunderstood.

Don't the American people have "a right to know" anymore?

I was watching the movie BRAVEHEART yesterday and this line stuck with me. When the Nobles are getting together and start bickering as to how they will divvy up Scotland William Wallace says, and this is the exact quote:

"There is a difference between us. You think the people of this country exist to provide you with position. I think your position exists to provide those people with freedom. And I go to make sure that they have it."

I love that movie. It was the perfect Memorial Day movie.

My brother and I have concluded the same with great sadness. For different reasons perhaps but the same conclusion nonetheless. He's not getting it done.

"The Judiciary Committee should be prepared to subpoena documents tied to this incident.... "

But if the search violated separation of powers, wouldn't this do the same?

From what I understand, it was done very carefully not to do anything that Congress is accusing it of. However, the Congress Critters didn't wait for the facts before sounding off and, then, continued to do so despite the facts ......

No matter how you look at it - Congress is a LONG way from the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) that it imposes on the Executive branch. Seriously, what are they so anxious to protect that they don't insist the Executive branch has to make public?

So if he refuses to give over documents, what recourse does the Justice Dept. have?

Apparently you stand under the Capitol rotunda for a certain length of time and lose all track of reality. Haven't heard anyone in Congress complain about the fact that Jefferson's a crook, but everybody's going nuts that the JUSTICE department is going after a crook.

None, he doesn't have to give over the documents, the body parts or the meth works so long as they are safely esconced in his office in the capital building and he can vaguely associate them with his duties.

Like, I was just researching how the dealers crank out crank. Or, I'm studying anatomy as part of my duties in the oversight of education.

It's way past time for the voters to "clean house". Send them all packing; back to the real world they're attempting to destroy.

It kinda sounds like diplomatic immunity. What happens in my office, stays in my office.
