Carla Sauer-Iyer...

ST. PETERSBURG -- Gov. Jeb Bush's latest foray into the controversy surrounding Terri Schiavo is raising eyebrows among some state lawmakers.

After conversations with the Governor's Office last week, the Florida Health Department asked the state Board of Nursing to dismiss a complaint filed in May accusing a nurse of violating state and federal privacy laws by talking about Schiavo on national TV.

Snip...

The Board of Nursing's probable cause panel could consider the case against Sauer-Iyer on Aug. 17.

Resisting eugenics, from Madame X...

This view is unabashedly shared by many people, but more to the point, it enlists the sneaking sympathy of many more of us, which is why Kevorkian was able to ply his trade for so long and so publicly before being successfully prosecuted. Several years later, the Terri Schiavo case shone the spotlight on our national ambivalence toward assisted suicide. Many people who would identify their values as conservative could be heard muttering, "Why won't they let her die in peace?" during Schiavo's agonizingly long death. Others defended her right not to be tortured to death by food and water deprivation, but cringed at her severe disabilities. It is difficult to convince our imaginations that we could ever find life a good under circumstances such as hers.

Standing strong, brave, courageous in defense of our enemies...

This contrast between right-wing and public interest was also clear in 2003, when Bush interrupted his vacation to fly overnight to Washington to sign "emergency" legislation keeping brain-dead Terri Schiavo alive against her and her husband's wishes. This from the same President who two years before had received the August, 2001 intelligence warning titled "Bin Ladin Determined to Strike in US" and left FOR vacation.

Ping to a fine story, a thread by wagglebee...

We first heard of our daughter’s genetic condition long before she was diagnosed. It was considered a lethal condition, an extra 13th chromosome. Most babies don’t make it to birth and those that do live a few years and are severely disabled. I thought, “Well, what is the point of that life?”

And while Smith often talks about how he has worked with Republicans to improve legislation, defeat efforts to put a class size amendment back on the ballot and keep state government from intervening in the Terri Schiavo case, Earnest used a Smith boast against him.

"Voters in both parties and independents see Jim Davis as someone who's standing up to the problems in Washington D.C.," he said. "Rod Smith is the one who says he has his fingerprints over everything that's coming out of Tallahassee."

Smith says he's better suited at beating Republicans than Davis

Hearing it again from Mother Jones on poor Senator Lieberman...

What’s more, although he had previously called for the censure of President Clinton after he had beaten impeachment — and offered up an extremely critical speech of the then-president in which he reiterated many of the Republican talking points vis-à-vis their hopes for impeachment — Lieberman, this time, said he thought the possibility of censuring Bush would be “divisive.” This followed on his decision last summer to side with Republicans demanding that Terri Schiavo be kept alive through feeding tubes, despite both her husband’s wishes, Florida law, and, it turns out, the U.S. Constitution.

As blogger Duncan Black, aka “Atrios” wrote in the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday, “Lieberman's problem isn't bloggers, it's the voters of Connecticut, who seem to be increasingly tired of his support for some very uncivil policies, including federal intervention into the Terri Schiavo case, the Bush administration's operations at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay and, yes, that disastrous invasion of Iraq.” Speaking of bloggers, The New York Times also reported that Lieberman “appears taken aback by the ferocity of the onslaught, particularly from liberal blogs. To Mr. Lieberman’s camp, the bloggers embody what his longtime friend Lanny Davis calls “the demonizing, hating, virulent, character-assassinating left of the Democratic Party.”

MSM tailors the facts, replaces them as needed to make a point. The News Anchor, Carley Wegner invites commentary by leaving an email...

Next is your living will. The document states whether you want extraordinary means-- like a feeding tube-- to keep you alive if you are in either a vegetative state or if you have a terminal and incurable disease. This is what pushed the Terry Schiavo case in the spot light. After Terry had complications from heart failure in 1990 she went into a coma. She was kept alive by a feeding tube ... Her parents wanted to keep her alive but her husband wanted to let her pass away. After 15 years of legal debates the Supreme Court sided with her husband. The feeding tube was removed and she died in March of last year.

From ProLifeBlogs...

...................

Advocates of the culture of death have concentrated on the extreme ends of the life spectrum, oppressing the weak and the helpless whose lives depend on others and asserting that the humans at the earliest stages of life are without value. President Bush's recent veto of a bill that would release federal funding for stem cell research has been applauded by pro-life advocates. Representing disability advocates, Joni Eareckson Tada adds her support:

I wish to add another Absolute Law of Liberal Behavior to the already lengthy list. Namely, LIBERAL REPORTERS ARE INCAPABLE OF WRITING A BIAS-FREE LEAD. They simply must get their editorial opinion in, right up front.

Real news isn't supposed to have editorial opinions, but the liberals conquered their need for real news eons ago.

FYI: Charlie Crist changed his web site into an Acrobat format... Curious it was after Reverend Dozier came out against all Muslims and held a protest against a mosque being built in S. Florida.

Crist is always hiding something.

I think I copied Reverend Dozier's paragraph from Crist's campaign site before they fixed it so it couldn't be easily copied.

It's not good to have an anti-semitic on your policy team.

I'll find what used to be at Crist's web site and re-post it here.

Shape shifters from Tampa Bay are ashamed of who they really are as they try to fool Floridians.

When citizens contacted his office to complain about Terri's civil rights being denied, Crist fooled Americans into thinking that he didn't have a Civil Rights Dept. Well, he actually does but it doesn't appear to work if you're the wrong color or if you're disabled.

He sold out for Judge George Greer (murderer).

http://www.judgegeorgegreer.com (Terri was murdered and Crist helped.)

Crist doesn't value human life. What happens after a hurricane or God forbid, a terrorist attack? Crist will be in a bunker with his head tucked between his spindly, tan legs. He is pro-Charlie, not a leader for our times.

It's nice to see that they have a REAL ATTORNEY GENERAL in the State of Louisiana. Charlie Crist continues to send ads that say "we need a culture of life" when he knows that he abandoned an innocent woman going way back to 2002/2003.

Charlie Crist said "we need a culture of life."

I AGREE.

Vote for Tom Gallagher for Governor of Florida. Visit his web site at: http://www.tg2006.com

Gallagher is the only candidate who is for a culture of life. Crist is FAUX-LIFE.
