That plug in power has to come from somewhere. We better build either more coal or nuclear plants. The grid is being taxed as is during peak hours.

BTW, not a chance on planet earth that I would trade my Vette in for a Prius.

Speaking of autos, the Big Three can sell vehicles when they produce what buyers want.

I just read an article of the Dodge Caliber, a compact hatchback that was introduced a few months ago. It's selling so well that dealers only have a six day supply. One Dodge dealer had to rent a Caliber as a showroom vehicle until his next shipment arrives because he sold every one he had. Another has a waiting list of 25 people.

It's got features like a refrigeratable glove box, foldable seats, lighted cup holders and fold-down rear-seat speakers.

If I'm lucky, the hybrid will have started to pay for itself in gas savings in about 10 years.

No, thanks.

A 'Vette is a hard-earned toy; a Prius is a political statement.

We should benefit from those reactors. I think the closest we have is one in illinois that acheives like 87% recyclability. Supposedly the ones in France are 95%+

In a few more years we'll be able to buy that French technology...from the Germans! They get to KEEP France this time!

;^)

Not really. That's about the time you'd need to fork over a few thousand dollars for a new set of batteries.

Here's a nice high efficiency motor vehicle

Tested, known, widely adopted technology
Cheap to make
Sips gas, and a blast to drive

100 mpg? Like most enviro stuff, it is full of half truths and wishful thinking. Not that 100 mpg is not great mileage. But when you put an electric plug on a car to charge the battery, you are using another source of energy.

In the United States, slightly over 50% of that electricity comes from burning coal.

A hybrid that runs on coal? Who wouldda thunk it?

I hear ya. :-)

However, my Vette is my daily driver. :-) 2005 C6 and over 18k miles so far.

I wonder what happened to this?

When oil prices last touched record highs - actually, after adjusting for inflation we're not there yet, but given the effects of Hurricane Katrina, we probably will be soon - politicians' response was more hype than hope. Oil shale in Colorado! Tar sands in Alberta! OPEC be damned!

Looks like there may be plenty of oil.

There was a South Park episode that came out about the time the Segway came on the scene. Without going into detail as how to operate it, just let me say that this is the sort of vehicle that could be right at home in D.C.
