The guy's film was so incredibly fake that anyone who spent a day in the Army even in the 444th motor pool company ("we got two-by four-by, six-by, eight-by, and the big mo fo what bends in the middle and goes toot toot") could have called him on it.

As a real SF veteran who really had the qualifications MacBeth claimed (well, except for murdering hundreds of civilians; I guess I missed out on that mission), the thing was snortworthy. Seriously, if you are a vet of any kind do NOT watch this while drinking a beverage... I hate the sensation of Dr Pepper in my nasal sinuses.

And yet this poseur was accepted into the inner councils of the Iraqi Veterans Against the War... which should tell you all you need to know about their bona fides.

At least the last fake Ranger, Micah Wright, put some effort and intelligence into his impersonation.

By the way, Jesse is also an admitted wife- (or girlfriend-) beater and credit fraud felon, with a long record, and is presently a fugitive from justice in AZ. That's's another thing we find in wannabees all the time. Come to think of it, I wonder how many judges have given this crumb a break because of his "traumatic military experience?"

Some of these poseurs have actually gotten into the VA system here and are drawing disability. They never check their records, it seems like. The PTSD "rap session" dweebs are phony as a Palestinian peace proposal.

Military service isn't a requirement for spotting this poser. I never served a day. Granted, most of my family has, but I don't know anything about uniform regulations and other details that were picked apart by the experts.

As a civilian, I see other things. This was a stuttering little boy, dressed up in mismatched rags he bought at a surplus store. It was the boy thing that did it for me. I may not know what flash belongs on what beret, or what units fought in what theater, but I know the difference between a man and a boy.

I've watched boys go into every branch of the military, and the next time I see them they are men. Without exception. It's in the eyes, the jaw, the neck, the posture, the entire being. I see it when I look at my husband, my son, my nephew, my brothers-in-law and my brothers. I still see it in photos of my father, uncles and grandfathers. I've seen it in countless friends. Some would call it military bearing. I think it's too complicated and too simple to call it anything but "it." You either have it, or you don't. And little Jessie does not have it.

You know, every member of my family said I looked different, not when I came back from SF school, or Ranger school, or O&I school, or language school. Not from any of my high-speed deployments, and not from combat. They said I looked different after basic training.

I was very much a spoiled little upper-middle-class boy of twenty when I went in the Army. Thank God, I learned and I grew and I had incredible mentors. Unfortunately, with Jessie's criminal record he cannot get that kind of turn-around in his life -- the military won't recruit those with records of significant moral turpitude. He will have to find his own path to being a man -- if he can.

Thanks for your insight.

It's interesting to compare that first military photo with the soldier just out of basic training. The photo is taken early on, before the change occurs.

If little Jesse had just gone through basic before embarking on his film career, it might have taken five minutes longer to weed him out.
