"Jesus offered forgiveness and healing to all who sought it. And when some objected to this compassion, he responded: "Let the one among you who is guiltless be the first to throw the stone,"(John 8:7"
Funny how they always leave off Repentence and Reconciliation.
You have never seen such fear and intolerance until gays get power - they allow no discord at all (hate crime legislation, mandatory and forced indoctrination, etc.)
"We see homophobia within the Church as both an opportunity for education, and a way to promote the idea of love of neighbor. We are calling for dialogue."
How many lies are in this statement? Let us count the ways....
They are calling for acceptance of their deviant life choices.
I'm a Christian AND a sinner. But, at least I've got the good grace to be ashamed of my sins and try to be better.
Christ loved sinners, but He never condoned the sin. He told them to go and sin no more. Morals don't change. Homosexual acts are against natural law and can never be anything but perverted. The Episcopal church will welcome you. They change the Ten Commandments. Any Catholic bishop that encourages you to live in this sinful way should be disciplined.
this is a most interesting remark. It almost seems as though they admit that they "don't live up to His teachings;" that they are "guilty" of something.
Wonder what they think they are guilty of...
Note to self: Go to Mass either very early or very late that day, perferably a Spanish Mass just to be safe. If these people do not accept the teachings of the Church, they should go to another church.
Hate the sin, love the sinner.
I don't think the Church will be changing it's stand anytime soon.
No, they have lobbied FOR the teachings of the Bible.
Our grief is intensified because many in the GLBT Catholic Community feel alienated from the Church because of this assault on our human rights.
No, they are alienated because of their sins.
We believe the Bishops have a serious obligation to root out structures and attitudes that discriminate against the homosexual as a person.
No, they have a serious obligation to root out sin and attitudes that defy the teaching of Scripture.
A small number of courageous Bishops are exerting their leadership in behalf of this effort, and these Bishops will have our full support and prayers.
But not of Heaven.
when some objected to this compassion, he responded: "Let the one among you who is guiltless be the first to throw the stone,"(John 8:7)
Yes, and then He concluded by admonishing the prostitute to "Go forth and sin no more." Mercy is only half the equation; correction is the other half.
Nice attempt at reversing the charges.
Message to the Red Sash Gang....the 10 Commandments instruct us to,among other things, not to commit adultery. your inability to understand this clearly indicates that you are,in fact,unitarian/Universalists.
So,from now on,you can skip attending Mass and attend whatever political struggles meetings they hold in your new "church".
Geesh, these people care more about where their genitals go today than where their souls go in eternity.
I hope so too. I am really getting tired of this kind of stuff.
Sounds like a good time to preach for the need to repent of sin, not to wear it as a badge of honor. "Catholic homosexual" is like "vegetarian steakhouse".
"The Episcopal church will welcome you."
They better think twice about going Episcopalian...and do a little
border-jumping and joining up with the Anglicans:
