He is EXACTLY the same man that you voted for. He hasn't changed. YOU have. (Either that, or you voted in ignorance).

Im sorry, maybe GWB should have announced during a campaign speech that he was going to let any 3rd worlder who can walk to just let them come into our country.

I'm mulling over your "Pharisee" meaning separatist comment, Wolfstar. 'Better' than everyone else, but completely wrong.

Perhaps a fuller explaination of the context would help. As you know, I was responding to STARWISE's comment:

But apparently he'd have to be God himself in his omniscience to be appreciated by the "yeah, but" conservatives among us.

So, staying within the metaphorical premise Star set up, I referred to Pharisees, who were the earliest virulent anti-Christians. I said:

I honestly believe that if Jesus were among us today, the my-way-or-the-highway crowd would be the modern equivalent of the Pharisees.

Again, this is metaphorical. I'm not comparing GWB to Jesus, but am saying those who're turning on GWB so vehemently are the modern, metaphorical equivalent of the Pharisees.

I went on to mention a bit of irony. The Hebrew meaning of Pharisee is separatists, or the separated ones. I was thinking of the "Bush did not abandon us; we abandoned him" premise of the article at the top of the thread. To abandon someone is to separate oneself from that person.

Hopefully this helps you understand my point better.

We are not however, willing to shoot ourselves in the face and sit out/vote third party in November to prove some sort of nebulous point.

I agree.

And we also understand that too much yelling on our side actually weakens the ability of the President to complete the tasks which we DO agree with him on.

Yes, I agree. That's why I'm not yelling. But I am saying I want a more hardline on immigration and less federal spending on social programs, and I'm going to keep saying it.

You sound like a child jumping up and down for attention, demanding your own way.

Oh really? To me I sound like a reasonable person trying to deal with a control freak who thinks he has the right to tell people "you shall not breathe a word of criticism of President Bush on certain threads because I don't like it."

And I agree with you. The disagreement is only how to get there from here...not that we need to get there.

I think if the alternative-agenda driven disappeared from this site, we would find that we are all very much in agreement on much of this, with substantive policy discussion on the finer points.

I don't believe he's an abject failure, neither do I believe he is God like some of you do.

HERETIC!! You must burn!!

I've already found out that no matter how much you assure them that you like Dubya just fine, he's a fine fellow, better than any of the alternatives he ran against, done a lot of good, etc etc etc... the minute you breathe a WORD of reproach about anything, they flip out like teenaged girls whose favorite rock star has just been pelted with a rotten tomato. It's bizarre.

Now I'm asking you to keep quiet because I'm embarrassed for you. Don't dig any deeper into this hole you're in, OK?

Ah, the truth comes out. So much for that -deep chuckle, you just amuse the REAL conservatives, son- b.s.

You are controlling and you want to silence dissent. It's not going to happen.

"Every word you've said on this thread has been a complete fabrication"

Actually, I was parroting the fevered mind of the Bush obsessed. But what I thought was obvious parody apparently has irritated the hive by being too close to reality.

"Take your meds, Coyote."

Why should I take my meds, I am not drug addicted like the Bush-bots here who are for Open-Borders-For-Druglords. Speak for yourself.

But if you think that "he" should thank God for...blah blah blah...are you saying that anyone that had been lucky enough to be in office on 9/11 would then have benefited - not by his response or actions, but by just being lucky enough to be in office then?

My mind is trying to get around this reasoning - I'm trying to think how different it would've been had Gore been Pres. then - or Clinton - or Kerry.

Shudder...your logic escapes me. hmmm - I think I get it now. there are some who couldn't bring themselves to credit Bush with anything, no matter, and so turn it upside down. Yep, that must be it...

Nice try. That's quite easy and convenient, isn't it. Start naming all the non-9/11 related things that define Bush's legacy positively from a Conservative perspective.

And I'll take Alito off the table right now given that if Bush had had his druthers, it would have been Miers. So start there, when you're finished, then let me know.

As to the rest, yes, you missed my point completely. I did address those things however somewhere, sometime. And yes, you're off on it.
