I'm thankful he is our President. The right man for the right time. I am sick to death of the bashers. As if we don't get enough of them every day on every channel on tv.
I never expected I would see so many of them on FR.

Hear that?

It's the President playing "The whiner's lament" on the world's smallest violin.

As much as he is vilified by damned near everyone these days he still smiles that grin that has made the liberals hate him so much.

Both of these areas have been completely within Bush's control.

Although I agree that the President could have been more aggressive in these areas, to say he has complete control is just silly.

Your post only gets sillier from there.

Ya sure. Bush couldn't veto a single spending bill in over five years. And his refusal to adequately staff border control (as Congress twice required) is because....?

Soory to say, but YOUR post strikes me as extremely ignorant, and, dare I say, pollyannish?

Absolutely fantastic piece!!!!!

THANK YOU so much for posting it.

I loved President Bush when he came in and I will love him long after he has left office.

I'm no political scientist, but it seems to me that Bush started going downhill because Democrats successfully scared people about his social security reform. Not Schiavo or Katrina or Harriet Miers.

dare I say, pollyannish?

Well, there's one I haven't heard before. Very clever. LOL.

Seriously though, I believe that in order to acheive his primary objective which is winning the war on terror and fully funding and staffing it, he has had to cut deals with his own party.

I want to make clear that I do not like the situation. But I understand where it comes from and I took issue with your word "completely."

Let's just put it this way...if the President had vetoed and members of his own party had held the WOT hostage and defunded portions of it, many people here screaming about this, would have been screaming about that. As far as adequately staff border control, he is making progress in that direction and pointed out that he didn't need senatorial support for it (although glory hogs that they are, they tried to take credit.) Was that funded as well?

Quite frankly, he should thank God that for historical purposes that he was the one in office on 9/11. If it han't happened, what would his track record have been at this juncture?

He showed his mettle before 9-11

He handled the China/P3 crisis brilliantly.

But if you think that "he" should thank God for...blah blah blah...are you saying that anyone that had been lucky enough to be in office on 9/11 would then have benefited - not by his response or actions, but by just being lucky enough to be in office then?

My mind is trying to get around this reasoning - I'm trying to think how different it would've been had Gore been Pres. then - or Clinton - or Kerry.

Shudder...your logic escapes me. hmmm - I think I get it now. there are some who couldn't bring themselves to credit Bush with anything, no matter, and so turn it upside down. Yep, that must be it...

Oh brother...that's rich! LOL

I wasn't trying to be a "thread cop", I merely replied to your post; something quite usual and acceptable around here.

Yes, using my post as a jumping off point, to attack someone else, through me.

It's correcting the mythography, for me. Facts mater; myths don't.

it is not a personal attack to tell someone the hard truth: you guys are turning into "cult of personality" drones. You seriously are. If you're getting weepy and choked up over our president, and some of you are, that's a problem

This may come as a shock, but it's doubtful you are the sole depository of the "hard truth" --- you are in possession of your "own" truth, as are we all.

If we stop to take a breather from fault finding for a few moments and remember what the man HAS done, what is that to you?

You sound like a child jumping up and down for attention, demanding your own way.

Probably better than you do; however, you are now twisting and spinning and dodging; not to mention misusing and obfuscating and revising the meaning of the word "culture".

Wanna try again? :-)

My pleasure; I assure you! :-)

He came at you, out of the blue, based on nothing and I was NOT about to let him get away with it.

People like that fail, when we disallow such actions.

I am humbled by the reminder of just how much President Bush has done for America and her citizens.

Amen
