Libby Prosecutor Focuses on CIA Officer's Status

Isn't this a 1 minute event? Plame's boss calls a press conference and states that at the time of Plames name surfacing, Plame was not a covert agent.

Now you ask the media, if Plame isn't a covert agent, then who brought this whole mess up in the first place and wasted millions of taxpayer dollars?

Now you have a story.

It's true Libby is accused of perjury, not outing a covert agent. However, as Victoria Toensing pointed out, if Libby can show she was not covert, then naming her would not hurt her career and Libby would have no reason to lie about doing it.

More importantly, if Libby can win the public relations battle, Fitzgerald will be trapped. His charges will be viewed as "hyper-technical" and his efforts as a waste of taxpayer money.

It would also be great if Libby gets his day in court and can put Wilson, Russert, Andrea Mitchell, Judith Miller, etc. on the stand. Wilson backpedaled like an NFL cornerback last time he was under oath (in front of the Senate). What could be sweeter than to have the trial show Wilson was peddling lies and Libby was trying to get the truth out? Why, it would be as if the media properly covered the report from the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. That inquiry determined Wilson was spreading a pile of falsehoods - some mistakes, some outright lies. That needs to be shown on TV.

Didn't we hear a week or so ago that Libby's team have something like 5 witnesses that will testify that Joe Wilson himself identified his wife as CIA long before any of this started?

That was about a month ago then everything went silent again until this past week. Just enough time for Joe Wilson to cover his lying tracks again. It's been known and pointed out time and time again by reliable witnesses that Joe Wilson was the one that outed Valerie Plame but for some unknown reason Fitzy doesn't want to go that route and prefers to let Wilson to continue with his lies and follow a false path to make the Republicans and WH the ones that committed a (non)crime.

Someone is doling out the money to keep this on the burner. I doubt Joe Wilsons and Valerie Plames combined retirement checks would cover their mortgage payment and keep them with the swanky cars and in the life style they had become accustomed too, there has to be another payout coming from somewhere to enable them to keep this up.

There appears to be a long list of WHO knew and when did they KNOW it players and the list doesn't appear to have originated from within the White House.
