I can see why. Mary Liandru no doubt leaned on them on her brother's behalf. Plus the dems can only be hurt next time Nagin lets loose with more brainelss, racist comments. I was pretty ambivalent about this but now I'm happy he won. The enemy of my enemy may not necassarily be my friend, be he ain't so bad either!

He's a far far cry better than Landrieu.

only a handful of us were pulling for Nagin on the live thread - most freepers didn't get what was going on in this race, maybe now they do.

Still, remember 85 percent of the Nagin voters are for Mary Landrieu for senator. Nagin himself endorsed Landrieu in 2002! She is very popular in Louisiana.

I can understand freepers not liking Nagin, but given that there were only two possible outcomes in this race, it turned out for the best.
