The army, I hope will take the starch out of them. I remember when the Kuwait thing happened, the army said they were loosing Mexican recruits. I wonder if this is POTUS recruitment thing, without them knowing?

Your fairopinion is just that, an opinion. We don't need ILLEGAL foreign workers, we have a 4.7 unemployment rate not a 0 unemployment rate, that means there are Americans out of jobs. We certainly don't need 12 to 20 million ILLEGAL parasites being legalized into this economy.

To say that all of these lawbreaking parasites are just hard working people trying to assimilate belies the protest we recently witnessed where the Mexican flag was held over the upside down American flag and we were told we didn't belong here because we are really part of Mexico, some assimilation. The crime rates for ILLEGALS also do not bear out the statements that these peaceful ILLEGALS are here to do jobs and raise families, some are, a whole hell of a lot of them aren't.

None of them deserve to be American residents or citizens for the simple fact they have broken the law of the land, not just coming here ILLEGALLY but using forged documents(a felony by the way)and stealing identities.

Of course this is ok, right? We should all be able to break the law in order to provide for our families, maybe we could all start robbing banks and then protest and demand ammesty because we were just trying for a better life.

None of your statements hold water.

Lindsey Graham needs to be defeated in a primary. I have always questioned the sincerity of his commitment to the conservative cause. He strikes me as an opportunist, similar to the Clintons. No better way to get into the NY Times than to be a Republican "maverick." No excuse for a conservative state like SC to vote for a wimpy RINO like Graham.

I don't know what is happening with Hagel. Positioning himself for the 2008 campaign? Also needs to go in a primary.

And with regard to Brownback, I think he's genuinely convinced himself that Christian principles require us to open the border.

All of them deserve to be thrown out of office. I plan to vote third party or stay home in November before I vote for any amnesty-supporting RINOs.

There would have to be a 15% growth rate to create that many jobs, which proves that this Heritage study is all wet.

What makes you think they all come here for jobs?? Don't you think our generous welfare state also acts as a magnet???

See below:

Welfare to kids of illegals at $276 million (Los Angeles County) Los Angeles Daily News ^ | 04/26/2006 | Troy Anderson

Posted on 05/02/2006 5:20:30 AM PDT by kingattax Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich said Tuesday that he will tell Congress that close to 100,000 children of illegal immigrants in the county collect $276 million in annual welfare benefits.

Antonovich, who is in Washington with the Board of Supervisors, will meet with congressional representatives and provide information about the impact of illegal immigration on county services.

Antonovich said 98,703 children of 57,458 undocumented parents received Cal-WORKS welfare checks in January, or a total of 156,161 recipients.

"If incorporated into a city, it would be the sixth-largest city in Los Angeles County," Antonovich said in a statement Tuesday. "While legal immigration is a positive influence on our culture and economy ... in public safety, health care and public social services, illegals cost county taxpayers nearly three quarters of a billion dollars a year."

Shirley Christensen, spokeswoman for the Department of Public Social Services, said her office provided the data to Antonovich.

"What I want to make clear is the children we aid are legally eligible to be aided," Christensen said. "They are the children of undocumented parents, but they themselves are not undocumented. They were born in this country."

This means the Census Bureau's projection of a white minority US by 2050 should be moved up to about 2010 and there will be a singular Hispanic majority by maybe 2020.

It would be the first ( and last ) time that a nation purposely replaced its own culture and ethnicity with a different one.

After the Ensign amendment to S2611 protecting Social Security from illegal felons failed I wrote to the AARP>

I wondered why the AARP hasn't entered into the debate on S2611?

Dear AARP

What is the stance of the AARP on current legislation S2611 now being debated in the Senate? Why did not the AARP speak up on the Senator John Ensign Amendment about letting illegal immigrants have access to Social Security? I thought AARP was in business to help protect Social Security from bad legislation.

There would have to be a 15% growth rate to create that many jobs,

I know you heard the 15% figure on the Michael Medved show, but I have to take issue with it.

There are 150 million workers now. Adding 100 million immigrants over 20 years, and assuming (falsely) that they are all workers, with no kids, homemaker wives or old people, that would be a 2.5% annualized growth rate. If one adds on a percent or so for per capita growth, that is a 3.5% real GNP growth rate, which has been close to the norm in the US in recent decades. If one assumed another 50 million would be added by internal increase, that would be a 3.5% annualized growth rate, and 4.5% real GNP growth. Back in the 19th century, when there was a high percentage of immigration to existing population, the real GNP growth rate was around 5% annualized.

The 15% figure in short, strikes me as false on its face. I wonder how it was generated, and who said it.

Beyond that, I might note that adding more working bodies generates more jobs. It is not a zero sum game. There is no reason the real GNP cannot grow faster than 5%, if it is fueled by adding more productive workers.

Any comment?

Good question!

Just saw on State Dept. website this morning a statement of the huge increases in U. S. Passport applications.

Wonder if Americans are going to write their own EX-Patriot Act?

I could not agree with you more!

I think there are enough Americans not glued to "American Idol" who realize what is going on.

The good side of the bill is it would practically wipe out illegal immigration, due to the fact any one can come without having to jump the border. The bad news is it would permanently change the national character of the country by absorbing so many newcomers without being assimilated into the American mainstream. We have always been welcoming of and have successfully made immigrants Americans. The question is whether we can make so many arrivals Americans in a short period of time.

I saw something somewhere on Freeper today where someone referred to Lindsay Graham as John McCain's (McLAMES's) cabana boy. I couldn't stop laughing.

You're making a false assumption, sink: That by and large, they're coming in for jobs. There are three motivations that prove that to be false:

1) Welfare and other federal largesse

2) Drug smuggling, wholesaling, and retailing activities (Those are NOT jobs, the way you're thinking of jobs.)

3) Terrorist activities

Also, what the study is showing is that the legislation would allow up to 100 million to enter, if there were that many who wanted in. Once all the jobs are filled, the new arrivals might be offering to work for lower pay than the earlier arrivals, driving wages still lower.

Those who would then be unemployed would qualify for welfare, etc., and the cycle would continue until something bursts. This is a bad deal all around.

There are three motivations that prove that to be false:

Could you provide your evidence for this, or is this just your gut feel?

The consensus seems to be that, if there were no illegals being hired for jobs, illegal immigration would dry up to a trickle.

Is the consensus wrong?

Kind of sounds like Germany in the 1960's when they brought in all the "guest workers" from Turkey who are now unemployed and collecting welfare.

Let's take acre of current problems, build a fence and then invite guest workers IF we need them.
