"Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican." Ronald Reagan's 11th Commandment Peach, there are many Republicans who are concerned that the party has lost its way. Those conservatives fear the results of what appear to be harmful choices made by the GOP leadership. Another Ronald Reagan quote:
I didn't leave the Democratic party. The Democratic Party left me.
Substitute "Republican" for the D word, and I suspect that sums up the concerns of those who worry about the President's stand on illegal immigration.

"There will be no 'Meanwhile' if we lose the Majority in Congress. Present day democrats will find so many ways to reinterpret Laws it will be like living in Venezuela."
The Democrats will do their worst, which may well include "going nuclear" in the Senate on every piece of legislation.
BUT, the President will still be President, and it still takes 67 votes to override a veto. The Democrats might have 51 votes in the Senate. They're not going to have 67.
The Supreme Court will remain dominated by Republican appointees, and evenly split between liberals and conservatives.
There will be quite a contrast set up, between a raging Democratic Congress and a stubborn President in his bunker, vetoing everything.
So yes, there will be a "meanwhile". 2007 will be the meanwhile. And the Republicans will have that time period, while Congress and the President do isometrics and everything is paralyzed, to add a Sealed Mexican Border to their list of "untouchable" issues, and nominating a candidate who promises it.
And that gives the GOP power back in 2008.
It would be better to just give the BorderBots their fence NOW, and start building it, so we hold Congress this year.

"That certainly does not support the family-friendly look and feel of Free Republic"
Yeah, I sure hate when we veer from family-friendly stuff like box cars, mining the borders, shooting all immigrants on sight...stuff like that.

Well said and it bears repeating...
"We should stop calling people Bushbots. It's not fair."
"How about Lemmings?"
No no no.
We have to stop this.
Pukin' Dog's right:
shooting into a circle isn't going to do any of us any good.
What we need to do is respect the Border Conservatives enough to give them SOMETHING - their real fence, that's all, why NOT give it to them? - so that they stay in ranks.
We need to revive Ronald Reagan's 11th Commandment: "Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican."
The BorderBots shouldn't be hating the Bush loyalists, or vice versa. They should be talking it out, understanding what the demands are, and accomodating each other.
How about this:
WE give YOU the Fence you want, from sea to sea, and we start building it this year.
And YOU promise to give US your votes in November, to keep the Republican majority.
Political horsetrading is needed.
Political namecalling isn't.
Have you ever concluded a sale with a shopkeeper who called you names? No.
We have to talk to each other with respect.

"I've watched your posts...All anti-illegal conservatives are trolls, nut-ball radicals with no ideas to you...I don't think I want to belong to any Party you belong to...So, what political Party would that be???"
I'm a conservative Republican, I understand politics enough to know that its the only conservative party with a chance of winning much more than a local race.
I work to move the party more to the right, but I'm smart enough to not commit suicide if I don't get everything I want in every election or vote in Congress.
Only by staying involved can you have a voice in a vote in Congress, or in the primaries to change direction of the party.

You seem to have completely missed the point of this very thread, FRiend.

Amazing that some freepers need an explanation as to the difficulties and complexities that go with moderating a political forum.
You did a good job describing your experience.

Then you have a VERY selective memory. The president has frequently ended speeches with God bless America. That's my recollection as well. No, I can't cite a specific speech, but I'll bet a bit of Googling would find them.

"I have not given up on Bush or the House. I plan to keep pushing them to the right, as best I can." I saw that which is why I stated that you might let this be known in your posts. Not all of us have time to research all prior posts of a poster and we judge the views from comments in the posts on a specific thread.
And the impression I got from these on this thread HAD been that you were a quitter.

Substitute "Republican" for the D word, and I suspect that sums up the concerns of those who worry about the President's stand on illegal immigration. You know he's not running for reelection.
Have you written to senators and congress to voice your opinion?

The country is moving left. Socialism is worming its way into the fabric of our society. I see the evidence nearly every day. At least, every day that Congress is in session.
It's disturbing and frightening. If I thought there was an alternative, I'd be all for it. But there isn't, so I'll keep voting for Republicans so we can keep getting conservative judges who will MAYBE make enoough court decisions in my lifetime that I will see the country swing away from socialism.

So letting in a ton of Al-quaeda through our unguarded mexican border is a good policy?
Can't say we don't do it, because nobody knows, and nobody is even looking.

Is a president not permitted to change his mind, or for circumstances to change like a danged war, before you stop calling something like that a lie?
