Too many posts to respond to individually, so I'll make this simple point. To those of you who believe that the immigration bill will be the death knell for the GOP, I think you should revise your counts. There are not enough of you to hand the majority to the Democrats, which is EXACTLY why trolls have come to Free Republic to recruit MORE of you.

You should try reading. What I was saying (and AntiGuv referred to) is that if the Dims get 30 million new voters from an amnesty with more to come via chain migration, the GOP will never win another election, specifically, never hold any of the three branches of government again in my lifetime. And this is why the Dims and the media are so eager to promote how popular this amnesty is with bogus polls and such.

I don't advocate trying to defeat the GOP this fall. Especially not in the House who have been the friends of conservatives. I guess conservative House Republicans are border trolls too to some people.

LOL, apparently I was wrong, see # 1,025. I thought I was wrong once before but I was mistaken.

It was probably three or four years ago during a similar kerfuffle. Maybe longer, it's all a blur. Very enlightening and I've had great respect for them ever since. They don't just ban people arbitrarily most of the time. They know what they're doing. To post the info was an excellent call on the part of management.

BTW, you guys might want to ping the LM/SBM. They might actually be happy to answer your questions directly if you ask nicely.

They always have for me.

If you're interested I suggest you google. I have no desire to get side tracked with the ongoing problems within the LAPD.

Yep....keep your focus on that northern border because those 10,500,000 illegals that come in here every year, at a minimum, have done absolutely no damage to America or Americans.

Keep your focus on the northern border because that increase by 137% of OTM's, many of whom are of Middle Eastern descent, coming up from Mexico, which has known terrorist organizations, isn't a threat to Americans, because terrorists are too stupid to come through America's vulnerable pourous border that the 10,500,000 manage to get through.

Very unprofessional.

I disagree. If it happened all the time perhaps.

But today, it reminds us that the mods are human too.

This thread is a perfect reminder that....well, I haven't been to Chris' Steakhouse in about a year. ;^)

Just a thought for you dirtboy.....

Doesn't it make sense, on a forum owned by JimRob, that the Lead Moderator and the Admin Moderators would agree with HIS position? (i.e. that we, as conservatives, should fight tooth and nail to make sure the country doesn't fall into the hands of leftist traitors?)

If your 'side' goes against the express purpose of the forum, doesn't it make sense that ALL the Mods are on the other 'side?'

I would think that you would appreciate that you are given free speech and can express your views freely, and not whine that the Mods are taking the side of the owner of the forum.

Doesn't that make sense to you?

If you mean the Rampart scandal, that was 6 years ago, and blown way out of proportion, and mostly hype. I thought you meant something ongoing and real, involving money.

Fine, but that is a specious charge. Why would anyone assume that every single immigrant to this nation would vote for Democrats? You are assuming that these people are all greedy villainous thugs seeking handouts? Way to stereotype there.

Surely Dems believe that they will own those votes, but it does not have to be that way by default, even if your numbers prove true.

I refuse to accept the notion that everyone who comes to America is looking for a welfare check, instead of an opportunity to realize the American dream through their own hard work.

"I do continue to be a bit more optimistic than you.
If by November the state of play is as follows ...
(1) The House has stymied a guest worker plan ... so essentially no legislation has passed except some increased funding for border security.
(2) The President has actually taken some serious steps to secure the border ... and there is evidence it is working.
(3) We have seen footage of the Guard troops building barriers and fences at critical border crossings.
... then I'm not so sure the absence of a fence will cause mass defections in November.
Now, if guest worker gets through Congress but the fence doesn't ... put me down for the apocalyptic November scenario."

You are more optimistic than me, I think, because I don't think you're giving the proper weight to the BorderBots' sense of being BETRAYED by the Republican leadership and the President.

You've got to put yourself in their shoes. He didn't just say no to most of what they have said they wanted on Monday night: he proposed a policy that makes everything they fear WORSE. No border wall AND no enforcement against employers AND guest workers AND amnesty-which-is-not-called-amnesty.

They saw a positive and willful effort not just to ignore them, but to DELUDE them by pretending to offer the opposite of what is really on the table.

And they were (and are) INCANDESCENT about it.

You're assuming they will cool down and be lulled.

I am very sure that they are just like the tax hawks in 1992. NOTHING BUSH 41 DID after he raised taxes, nothing, could save his presidency. The tax hawks believed they were lied to. They took it personally, and they rejected every overture of reconciliation. They would have accepted a tax CUT as contrition, but of course the one thing that offended them was not on the table.

The BorderBots feel betrayed, and they fully expect flim-flam to try and convince them all is well. They were commenting angrily about the token enforcement against employers, and they responded by posting stats that showed the NON-enforcement against employers for years and years and years, the steady dwindling of enforcement.

Now, you're pinning your hopes on the BorderBots not being as mad as I think they are, and not being as fiercely committed as I know they are, and being more easily duped than they really are.

In short, your optimism is misplaced. If the BorderBots don't get their fence, they're going to retaliate. I am as sure of this as Longstreet was of the disaster that would befall Pickett's Charge. The pieces are all there.

The way to avoid the disaster is to give the BorderBots their fence and start building it. Hell, if you've got to lie to them, DON'T do it by pretending that the thing that they DON'T want, which is partial enforcement and a few national guard here and there is really working! They're not going to be fooled by that.
No, if you're going to lie to them politically, tell them you're fencing the WHOLE border, sea-to-sea (use those words), with an Israeli Wall (provide the image), and then START IT, so they see the pictures. Then they vote for you, you save Congress, and just go at a snail's pace after that.

I don't advocate lying at all in politics, but if we're going to resort to flim-flam, at least aim the flim-flam for MAXIMUM IMPACT! Maximum impact is TELLING PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT TO HEAR, and LOOKING LIKE YOU'RE DOING IT...but then never getting around to quite finishing it in the out years.
That gives people a sense of victory now.
Refusing to give them such a (false) victory on THEIR terms (even if you intend to screw them in the end) but insisting, instead, on doing everything on YOUR terms...and then trying to persuade furiously angry people who hate you that, see, you were right after all...well...that's a good way to see Speaker Pelosi.

Give them their Wall, and we don't have anything to worry about.
If you're going to lie to them, give them their Wall and build part of it, then slow down after the election. (Of course, once you start, they may not let you get away with stopping, but that's THEIR problem - right now the problem is overcoming distrust and anger. You do that by giving the other guy a big thing that he wants.)

I can't be optimistic like you are, because I believe it's a false hope likely to lead to bad choices.

The only way to save the Republican majority in Congress in 2006 is to give the BorderBots their sea-to-sea wall and start visibly throwing it up. Voting for parts of the wall will not do it. You have to say you're building the whole thing.

Hmmmmmm. The two largest Islamic fundlementalist enclaves outside of the Muslim world are in Canada. The U.S. Canadian border extends across thousands of miles of unobserved wilderness forest, mountain ranges, rivers, lakes and the Great Lakes.

Yep, you're right, it would make more sense for them to take a boat from Canada to Mexico, then try to cross into the U.S. through the most heavily patrolled U.S. border.

I sure hope they think like you.

Earlier there was a discussion on whether Rat operatives had infiltrated us, or if that idea was a figment of our imaginations.

To those who believe the latter, I got one word for you: MD4Bush.

Do a search if you don't know what I'm talking about.

"I don't agree with you BorderBots on the issue, but I understand you. And I know a threat when I see it. We have to give you your damned fence, or we're sunk. So I say: give the BorderBots their fence, so that we can win the election."

I'm assuming that you have enough confidence in the House stopping this amnesty madness that you are willing to give the President and Senate a pass on the issue. I on the other hand have no such faith. If even a significant portion of this amnesty craziness gets passed, we wont ever have to worry about winning at the polls again. It just wont happen no matter how many Conservative turn out to vote. We will simply be outnumbered in our own country. The prospect terrifies me.
