"But how different it would be if we had a permit. Then it wouldn't be a violation. It would be an opportunity."

Hmmm. A potential "temporary worker" with a get out of jail free card.

"We don't have a right to emigrate," the Veracruz native said. "But how different it would be if we had a permit. Then it wouldn't be a violation. It would be an opportunity."

Mexico is your home ya POS. Sooner or later we will once again be enforcing our immigration laws and you will be frozen out. You have no damn right to live or work here.

Controlling the borders and protecting the several states from invasion is one of the very few specifically enumerated responsibilities of the Federal Government.

It's spelled out in Article 4 Section 4. It's mentioned much more prominently than environmental policy, tax policy, running a national retirement savings plan, running a national medical care plan, running agricultural policy, or paying 'subsidies' to any industry or group.

What we 'think' doesn't matter. It's a fact that the Federal Government, including the President have this responsibility.

What is also a fact is that this President and this Senate are failing miserably at carrying out that responsibility. Now President Bush can't run again, but the Republicans and Democrats in the Senate are. They're the ones who need to be punished.

There's a list of which Republican and Democrat Senators voted against an immediate securing of our southern border available here. Those Senators of both parties who have failed in their duties need to be removed from office at the next election.

Some people around here will try to tell you that you shouldn't vote against a Republican who voted to leave the borders of our Nation open to God knows who to just waltz across. That's bull. If your Senator is failing in his Constitutional duty as you understand it then you have a moral obligation to vote against him or her regardless of what Party he or she belongs to.

They've failed to carry out their responsibilities. Be sure you do not fail to carry out yours.

I don't blame immigrants from countries where the monthly wage is a daily wage or some other skewed ratio for them in the US for wanting to come here, legally or not.

All you are saying it's their job to get in here and our job to keep them out. The problem is our Feds refuse to do their job defending our borders

Nothing new here.
In their minds, they're not fleeing Mexico, they're taking it back. The US population just doesn't know this yet.
I know for a fact this is true, I work construction in California, I work with Mexicans of all kinds everyday. I operate heavy construction equipment and many of them just initiate this discussion all the time, about how they deserve to get America back, and how the white man is exploiting them and how soon it will all turn around

A travesty. The Border Patrol should have body armor, and M-16s. Plus the Guard should have been there along time ago. Any bandito that crosses the border, should be muerto. When you send them back dead, they do not come right back. We need to get this situation under control. We are being attacked and invaded. This is war.

The object is to not kill them and not go to war.
It forces them to do something about their own country. They'll have nowhere else to go.

In the end I think it will come down to liberals (left) and conservatives (right). Oh did I mention that the conservatives have all the guns? Wonder how that's gonna work out.

I was just visiting CA and ran into a protest in San Jose - all those Mexican flags told me the same thing
