I don't see what the big deal is about auto nameplates anyway. I'm perfectly happy with my Maserati Quattroporte. And don't anyone dare tease me about getting a family car.

Did I forget Jew? That, too (although I have converted). AND on TWO banks boards.

Yowzer. A Bilderburger! LOL!

Don't happen to hang out at Davos, Switzerland do you?

How much is many? How come they don't reveal the numbers.

According to this story, several Honda vehicles are 70% US/Canadian content.

Foreign? American? Auto parts go global

These days I'm sure Honda buys many parts made in Mexico by American and Jap owned companies

Maybe. Source?

Why is American sourced significant to you?

Americans employed by evil foreign automakers and Americans employed by parts makers appreciate their jobs and paychecks. Should they quit? Are they working for the enemy?

These Japanese companies are usually ones Honda has bought from in Nippon

Damn these sneaky foreigners. First they hire Americans to build their cars, then they hire Americans to make the parts. What will they think of next? Allowing Americans to participate in their profitable scheme by selling us stock? Sneaky bastards.

Next year 50 inferior Nissan trucks. The Ford F150 continues to be the best truck. Do some research.

Living smack dab in the middle of Honda country is great. Never had a lay off (unlike GM and suppliers). My friend recently got a job at a Honda transmission plant starting at 25.95/hr, health and retirement benefits, a $50 weekly bonus for being on time, and profit sharing (sometimes up to thousands at the end of the year). It's a good thing.

Little wonder the UAW is doomed. Why would anyone want to join the thugs?

No, but I do drink beer at The Bar, Midland, TX the last place the now-President Bush had a beer.

So are the Japanese going to decry Honda outsourcing jobs to the US?

You want to bet against me on this one? Put your money where your mouth is before I scour the internet
GM, Ford have high Mexican content so a reasonable person concludes the Japanese are the same

I have no dog in this fight. I don't care who owns the plants that build Honda parts. If that article says their vehicles are 70% US sourced, why should I care who owns the American plant?

I'll bet the Japanese plants use more US/Canadian parts and fewer Mexican parts than GM and Ford. How much?

That's why it isn't worth discussing economics with you. You don't care if Americans or Japanese get the profits. You are a citizen of the world type. The last thing you are is a patriot yet you have the brass to call yourself toddsterpatriot

Because unlike the economically illiterate, I realize that the salaries a firm pays are usually much more than the profits a firm makes.

You are a citizen of the world type.

Nope. Sorry to disappoint you, I'm strictly a USA citizen type. If you learn some economics, maybe we can have a useful conversation. Or are you too old to learn any new tricks?

Does this mean you're not taking the bet? LOL!

The toyota plant in southern Indiana has a lot of part suppliers within less than one hour of the plant.

Are they American plants? Or enemy plants? Are the Americans who work there traitors?

No they're gainfully employed and don't pay UAW dues.

Maybe we should explain that to dennisw? We'd have to use small words.

Then dopes like you shouldn't care if Japanese, Iranians, Venezuelans and Chinese own 50%,70% or even 100% of the companies in America.

Have any estimate  how many are Japanese owned and how many American owned?
