Thanks for the ping.

These are some of the convictions of the Mafia that Ahmadinejad represents:

- the Hidden Imam is present in many places
- all preparations must be made for his emergence...
- some of the members of the group have met the prophet and his companions
- When they perform the prayer called "Tavassol" [which calls for the emergence of the hidden Imam], the Imam comes to the session...
- They claim to be chosen as the companions of the Hidden Imam and at least some of them are among the 313 special persons or even the 10 prominent persons that will fight along with the Hidden Imam.,
- They claim that the Hidden Imam has given presents to some of them...
- They claim that they get the solution of the problems from the Hidden Imam
- They believe that the Hidden Imam will appear in the next couple of years?(I repeatedly see indications that 2008 is becoming a very critical year. - OB1)...they have established organizations to find the proper persons for fighting along the army of the Hidden Imam...
- They claim to be protected by the Hidden Imam
- They oppose Bahai Faith and Sunnis..."

"Ahmadinejad thinks he has a divine duty from the Hidden Imam take certain measures."

Correction: Amadajammajamma has been smoking too much of the cheap stuff and it has addled his brain.

Ahmadinejad and his followers sure have an odd mix of Christianity in their beliefs. Sharing power with Jesus, alliances with Christians against the Dajjal/anti-Christ figure, etc. Also that Christians are suitable for conversion, but not Jews. I will look into the Mojjatieh more as I think their kinks have a lot of potential to drive them politically.

It appears that Ahmadinejad believes himself to be one of the translator/companions to the 12th Imam. I have seen a report that when Ahmadinejad enters a mosque, the faithful stand, face him and bow their heads. That treatment is given to only the highest mullahs such as Khomenei when he was alive.

I believe that Ahmadinejad was selected from obscurity by the Revolutionary Guards for his piety and convictions for the 12th Imam. His religious presense is a powerful rallying tool against Israel, the USA, and the Khamenei/Rafsanjani reformers in Iran.

I agree. We also need to watch the ayatollah (Yazdi) that is currently Ahmadinejad's spiritual leader, working in the shadows.

Mesbah Yazdi is the apocalyptically inclined (Twelver) ayatollah that is spiritually advising Iranian President (Crazy Mahmoud) Ahmadinejad.

See the article below that I sent to a frind this morning, regarding Yazdi. If Yazdi is successful in succeeding the 80+ year old Hasemi Rafsanjani as a member of the Iranian Majlis Khobregan (Experts Assembly), then the Twelver’s will have significantly strengthened their ability to keep Ahmadinejad in the Presidency and will keep pushing for chaotic actions they think will force the appearance of the 12th Imam (Mahdi). Yazdi is apparently the one behind the curtain pulling the strings of Ahmadinejad.

We need to watch Yazdi's every move and his every word.- OB1

Hardliners plan for Majlis Khobregan

Hamid Ahadi -- 25 May 2006

Five months into the elections of Majlis Khobregan (the Experts Assembly responsible for monitoring the performance of the leader of the Islamic regime and choosing his successor), the competition between varying clerical organizations in Iran is at its height.

With the certainty that right-wing ayatollah Meshkini who is the current president of the assembly will not run for office, and at time when the political standing and power of the clergy is seriously under question since they came to power some 27 years ago, who sits in the saddle of this institution has now become a key political issue. If no new candidate enters the field, then the seat shall go to either Hashemi Rafsanjani or Mesbah Yazdi. But the two shall have a hot fight before that.

It appears that some hardline clerics in Qom, led by reactionary ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi, are determined to use this election to end the political life of Hashemi Rafsanjani. On the other hand, what worries Rafsanjani’s political comrades-in-arms is a repetition of the events of the last presidential elections. Specifically, that the rejection of many candidates by the Guardians Council may lead to apathy and public decision not to take part in the elections. This is what happened during the elections for provincial councils and the presidency last year. In those instances, with many staying away from the polls, the conservatives and hardliners became the majority and won the races.

It is also reported that some groups on the right such as Jamiat-e Isargaran do not wish to have Rafsanjani on their ballots, even though this groups does not openly say so. At the same time it has asked him not to become a candidate from the reformers groups.

Last week, Ghassem Ravanbakhsh a student of cleric Mesbah Yazdi criticized earlier politicians such as Rafsanjani, former president Mohammad Khatami and Hassan Rohani the former head of the National Security Council and said they should be disqualified to run for the Khobregan elections by the Guardians Council. Writing in Parto journal, he said, “The life of leftist and rightist groups is over. During the Khobregan elections, just like the presidential one, the people’s list will prevail.”

Ravanbakhsh showed his confidence when he said that the very same strategy that was used during the seventh Majlis and last presidential elections in June 2005 would win the Khobregan elections, with help from the Guardians Council. This would complete the take over of key institutions of the Islamic regime.

Thanks for the interesting material. As you say, these beliefs can be an odd mix. Some of these ideas, such as of the "promised saviour" who lives among us, but is hidden, have their origins in the Zoroastrian faith.

Followers of the Twelfth Imam produce very varied documents, citing Sikh, Christian, Zorastrian, and Hebrew sources as proof of their claims. (You can imagine how all this infuriates orthodox Sunni Muslims, who don't believe in the Twelfth Imam, not for one minute of their lives do they do so.)

However, as indicated by your insightful posts, the real issue here is this particular group in Iran, and their political ambitions. There is a great deal at stake, and many theories about how Ahmadinejad came to power, and who is backing him.
