"Conservative activists should focus energy on making sure RINOs don't win GOP primaries in the first place. Handing power over to the Democrats does nothing to advance the conservative cause."

well said.

There is no "policing" going on just misinformation, disinformation, outright lies and a totally lack of perspective. And it is not conservatives involved anyway just the same stew of pretenders, Third Party loonies and the Unappeasables who have attacked almost every action Bush has taken.

Your suggestion of looking at the RATs is appropriate. It is PRECISELY because the most extreme of them has transformed the Democrats into the Party of Treason that they keep losing. Imitating that by driving the GOP to the far Right will also ensure its rejection by most Americans. Only a third of the nation calls itself conservative kowtowing to the most extreme 10% of the conservatives is a prescription for disaster.

One sees that those proposing this course are not really conservative since they don't care if they are helping the RATs.

Because I don't overexaggerate the evils of Illegals does not mean I feel like a foreigner in my city of residence. Quite the contrary I feel like an American i.e., not afraid of the present or the future.

In other words, no one should question, just shut up and take it.

So the whole debate is D vs R? Having an platform, and actually respecting that platform, is meaningless in todays politics, by your accounting.

In Chicago the biggest threat a driver has from uninsured accidents is from natives stealing cars then smashing someone. New Jersey is an even bigger cesspool than Illinois and more corrupt. It is easy to get down under such conditions and your have my sympathies.

While I have never had a major accident Allstate has been exceedingly helpful in paying a huge claim under my home insurance and has paid out for accidents which totalled less than two grand. I could have shopped around later and saved some money but since they had forked over 25 grand I decided I would stick with them.

I question every claim the Obsessed and Hysterical make. How does one figure out their disinformation, misinformation and outright falsehoods without questioning?

Since the Democrat has been transformed into the Party of Treason then MOST IMPORTANT issue is defeating it every chance one has.

Platforms? Yeah, look at the RAT platform and tell me you support that? Almost everything in the GOP platform has been attempted to fulfill. And the important issues HAVE been fulfilled.

"How does one figure out their disinformation, misinformation and outright falsehoods without questioning?"

Precisely. There are people on FR looking to disrupt, from the left. But I would say that the vast majority on FR are genuinely questioning the administration, and not entirely without reason.

Also, there are people on FR looking to shut down dissent, who support the current administration to a fault. Some of these people are doing so out of loyalty or a concern that this creates an opening for Democrats, and some are likely hired to do so, by Hill & Knowlton or some similar PR firm, for damage control and to shape public opinion.

I don't particularly care to be manipulated by either one, myself. I honestly cannot envision the circumstance that would ever have me regretting either of my votes for George W. Bush, especially in light of the alternatives. But, I didn't sell my conscience along with those votes, either. If something is questionable, I'm going to ask questions. I might even get angry if I don't like what appears to be the answer to those questions.

How about you?

Almost everything in the GOP platform has been attempted to fulfill.

This thing looks like it was written by a UN secretariat

It sure is different from this and this for example.

There is no question of conscience here. Except among those who don't listen to theirs and will exaggerate to win their case.

I wish I could get one of those jobs from the law firm you mentioned. Imagined tangling with people I would tangle with for free and getting PAID for it. WooooHoooo.

There is only one concern motivating me and that is making sure we have people in office devoted to winning the war on terrorists. Everything else is FAR below that in importance.

Sorry but I simply do not trust those who pretend not to understand this and attack the President and the GOP. Anyone working primaries to nominate ELECTABLE conservatives has all my support. But the fact is most of these ULtras are all mouth and cannot nominate anyone. Every time they get soundly trounced they blame everyone else.

"Unless you are single-issue-border-closer..."

____________________________________________________________

Well, there in lies the crux of the problem.

The "border" is far from a single issue for a lot of people.

It involved "Homeland Security" and the bloated bureaucracy that was foisted on Us taxpayers.

It involves the WOT directly.

And for many legit small business owners it involves losing thousands...and sometimes hundreds of thousands of dollars in bids to scumbags who hire illegals. So you can take your self righteous myopic views and stuff it.

We are re-shaping our government to meet the demands of the modern world and better serve our citizens.

By willfully ignoring our souther borders, illegal aliens and their criminal employers?

because our government’s most solemn duty is to keep its citizens safe

Where did this come from? Our government's duty is to protect INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS. Is that in the GOP platform somewhere? If it is, I missed it.

It was however important to the founders of the GOP. Here is an excerpt from the 1860 platform:
That the maintenance of the principles promulgated in the Declaration of Independence and embodied in the Federal Constitution, "That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; that to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed," is essential to the preservation of our Republican institutions; and that the Federal Constitution, the Rights of the States, and the Union of the States must and shall be preserved.

This 2004 platform has fallen VERY far from the tree. The governed are NOT consenting to open borders. What has happened to this party?

Platforms are political boilerplate and I see little to admire in the earlier ones. I also note that in the 2004 document the Border issue receives about a third of a page in the 92 pages printed. So much for any exaggeration of claims that Bush has "betrayed" the "base". Or that he has not done substantially what he claimed he would.

The LIE that the border is being ignored is strongly refuted by the FACT that 1.2 million illegals are detained and deported every YEAR.

National Security is the charge of the federal government and no citizen can be deemed safe without it.

Your last paragraph has no bearing on anything under discussion.

Platforms are political boilerplate
so they are meaningless to the parties. That was my initial assertion. Thats why a pro-abortion and pro- homosexual marriage open borders Republican can be supported with party money even though by their own beliefs, they don't support the platform.

If YOU want to pretend that GWB's signing of any form of "earned citizenship / Shamnesty" will NOT be the complete end to the Republican party for the foreseeable future, then be my guest.

Are you aware that the some of the bills now being worked on actually are DOUBLING the numbers of family members that these newly made "legal" citizens can petition to come into the US from 16 to 32?

Can you freaking multiply as in SIMPLE mathematics??

Even at a conservative estimate of 12 million illegals.... that becomes 12 million x 32.

You do the math Amigo... can you say "Kiss the Republican party good by?
... Forever??

So it is NOT a matter of disgruntled conservatives sitting at home that will be the downfall of the Republican party....

This downfall will come about at the hands of yours truly...GWB!
