?
No amount of paranoia will change that simple truth.
Yes, it does. But, so does the economy. Does it matter that our unemployment rate is the lowest in the free world?
The administration's initial response to gas prices was to claim we're addicted.
Okay. Bad choice of words. Are you as angry with the Dimms for blocking oil exploration as you are with the administration for using this poor choice of words?
Harriet Miers would be sitting on the Supreme Court if not for conservative uproar.
So, you're angry because the President listened to you and changed course?
My advice to you is: exhale, let go of your perceived slights, and move on to help us win the midterm elections.
What you think you know about Katrina you learned from equally dubious sources.
If the border is keeping you up at night, go watch it with the Minutemen. You're not sleeping anyway, may as well make yourself useful.
BUSH BOT!!! I AM I AM
I Do not like green buchanan
BUSH BOT!!! I AM IAM
Nut bag politics is the scam
Well, you DID insinuate that Conservatives who are angry at Bush are loud obnoxious lunatics.
To name a few...Spending continues to grow.I'm pleased with the state of our economy. Of course, that doesn't change the fact that I'm displeased with spending. The GOP as of late has given us a real mixed bag - not a recipe for electoral success.
Yes, it does. But, so does the economy. Does it matter that our unemployment rate is the lowest in the free world?
The administration's initial response to gas prices was to claim we're addicted.I sure am. So does that change the fact that many Americans were turned off by Bush's comments?
Okay. Bad choice of words. Are you as angry with the Dimms for blocking oil exploration as you are with the administration for using this poor choice of words?
Harriet Miers would be sitting on the Supreme Court if not for conservative uproar. No, I'm irritated that it was necessary in the first place. It shows a disconnect between the base and the White House.
So, you're angry because the President listened to you and changed course?
My advice to you is: exhale, let go of your perceived slights, and move on to help us win the midterm elections.
Thanks for the advice. I'll vote GOP in November, but as far as I'm concerned my money and time can be better spent elsewhere between now and then. And therein lies the real danger; money and volunteers are what win elections, and when the base is unenergized those two ingredients aren't present in sufficient quantity.
Friend, your personal disappointment seems to be blocking your common sense.
If you're going to vote GOP in November, your money and energy spent elsewhere is wasted and dilutes your own voting choice.
Friend, I again ask you to let go of your anger, and rejoin the team. We need you.
Godspeed.
Not to pick nits,(OK I am) but isn't the most visted conservative news site FreeRepublic?
Regardless, I respect and appreciate your approach on this thread. Take care...
You assumed that that's what I meant.
There are a lot of legitimate reasons to be angry at Bush. Being angry at him doesn't make someone loud or obnoxious.
Conservatives who say stupid things like "All Muslims should be killed," or "We should treat illegal immigrants like enemy combatants," are loud, obnoxious lunatics.
The reasonably conservatives observe only that "Islam is a dangerous cult, and all terrorists should be killed, detained, or otherwise incapacitated," and that "illegal immigrants are criminals, but not enemy combatants - and we need better law enforcement rather than a fully militarized border, even if better law enforcement means a civilian controlled border that looks like it has been militarized." The lunatic fringe of the Right Wing say a lot of stuff that are bigoted and over generalized, and actually believe that a 15 year old American Muslim is inclined to strap on a bomb and blow up a school bus. Lunatics have more in common with the DU when it comes to asserting and making bigoted statements.
But disagreeing with Bush on valid issues? Heck - We all knew in 2000 and 2004 that Bush is a moderate Conservative who is about as far Left as you can go and still claim to be a conservative. That doesn't stop me from liking the guy because I think we need a moderate now to get the ball rolling. If anything, Bush is perceived as being too conservative by the Left, which means they'd be even worse if we'd managed to find an even more conservative candidate in 2000 or 2004.
Think about it... A moderate now, a slightly less moderate in '08, and progressively more conservative over time, until we can finally start passing the legislation required to cut down the size of our government. Bush's job is to get certain things done to help ensure a Republican successor, and keep Clintonian policies from getting us all killed. His successor's job will be to actually reverse the Clintonian policies, and enact more conservative policies.
The lack of patience on the Right fringe is frightening. If they can't buckle down and stop demanding instantaneous results, and start working the rest of us to start the ball rolling on reversing the liberal damage to our country, then they're only going to find themselves sitting smugly in 2009 with a Democrat Congress and President, but at least they taught those Republicans a lesson. We cannot let the Democrats have control of Congress or the White House. Not as they are now... They're insane.
The worst disagreements you have with Bush are nothing compared to the disagreements you'll be having when the Democrats are in power. Sure, he's a Big Tent moderate Republican, but a Big Tent is what we need if we're going to hold onto power long enough to convert Americans to Conservatism based on the results of good government. I'll admit, we're off to a very slow start, but when you look at the resistance from Congress to the President's policies that make sense, like permanent tax cuts, restrained budget increases, and social security and tax reform.... The problem isn't the President's moderation, but the fact that Congress is NOT on board with the conservative agenda. Republicans in Congress are stuck on stupid, and people are blaming the President for not doing more.... Except he can't do much more. Congress has the president over a barrel. They hold the future of his foreign policy in their hands, and they've told him repeatedly that if he screws with their budgets, they're going to join the Democrats and yank the plug on the War on Terror.
Congress is NOT afraid of the terrorists. They're not afraid of a down turn in the economy. They're insulated from both through layers and layers of security, and generous pension terms and perks. The problem is not the President, but Congress - and that's the God honest truth. The President has given us a lot of solid judicial appointments, but the Republican Congress has managed to let the Democrats filibuster and intimidate many of those nominees. Sure, Miers was a goof, but conservatives should've stuck to their principle of allowing the President the right to nominate who he chose, and let Miers stand or fall on her merits during the hearings. As it is, we look like a bunch of hypocrites to say "Up or Down Vote" now.
Lunatics are famous for their one step strategic thinking. What we need is multistep and long term thinking as to how we're going to reverse the damage done to our country by the liberals. If the lunatics have their way, we'll be stuck with another 40 years of Kennedys, Clintons, and Carters. And by then it'll be too late... but at least they taught those Republicans a lesson.
Pfft. So, you're not a lunatic for disliking Bush. Lots of reasons not to like him as a conservative. You are a lunatic if you want to go so far as helping the Democrats get back into power so you can teach conservatives and Bush a lesson. There may be a lot of reasons to dislike Bush, but there are a lot more reasons to really dislike the Democrats.
I would have to say, unequivocally, YES.
