I guess you've never contemplated the concepts of "bottleneck" and "choke point".

They call some issues because they're, what's the word I'm looking for.......TOUGH!

If they were easy, Clinton would have solved them, or someone before him.

In our form of government, and our Pax Americana mindset, many issues need to get to the crisis point before action becomes possible. We are a Manana society.

Since President Bush took office, funding for immigration enforcement has increased by 42 percent. (And still it's not enough for the whiners).

These resources have helped agents bring to justice smugglers, terrorists, gang members, and human traffickers. For example, through Operation Community Shield, Federal agents have arrested nearly 2,300 gang members who were in America illegally, including violent criminals like the members of the "MS-13" gang.

Maybe they think LBJ or Clinton did a better job? Oh wait, the real problems we have stem from legislation enacted by these Presidents.

Last year, President Bush signed legislation to more than double the resources dedicated to worksite enforcement. We are working to hold businesses accountable and crack down on document forgery. Next month, the Administration will launch new law enforcement task forces in 11 cities to dismantle document fraud rings.

Gee, I can't imagine why I envision you in the "ill-informed, hysterical nut" category.

Good morning.
"The stunning irony alone makes this exchange worth my time."

LOL. I don't get to correspond with most of the people who are on my case on this thread very often. You've got to love ping lists. I'm happy to make your day. Stick around, I'll be back later today.

We have 12 million illegals here by most estimates, 6 million illegals have been sent back.

That says something about the extent of the problem. It is estimated that 500,000 illegals a year make it in to stay for good. Bush has been in office for a little over five years, which means, by your figures, that 1.2 million are being sent back each year or 100,000 each month. This sounds like an invasion to me.

The Bear-Stearns Report estimates 20 million illegal immigrants. The point is that we don't know how many are here.

Those 12 million people didn't get here during his term, for crying out loud.

No, that's true. However, 9/11 changed the equation and the need for urgent action. We still have not secured our borders making ourselves vulnebable to terrorist attack.

The President has set a goal to end "catch-and-release" over the next year. Most illegal immigrants from Mexico can be returned to Mexico within 24 hours

Goal? As the CIC, he should do it now. What's the problem? Don't our present laws permit it?

Good one. And so true. Even Reagan, a great president, signed an amnesty program. He never took steps anywhere NEAR what Bush is taking.

And he didn't have a war to fight either.

Something else that is very disturbing is Mexico's President Fox has said on many occasion that if we try to deport too many illegals, his country won't take them back. If we do this to 'blindly' we could end up having 12 million people qualify for protected asylum and we would have no choice in keeping all of them.

See, nothing is ever good enough for you people. All you do is complain.

He's done more than any other president, while we're at war, and it's still not good enough.

This president has done more to handle the illegal immigration problem than any other president in any of our lifetimes, is running a war, and still everyone condemns him.

And the bashers wonder why calling him Jorge is not well-received. The way some people post, you'd think he was down there personally handing out Coronas and tacos as he drives illegals over the border.

we don't need forcible deportation. discincentivize employment here, and many of these people will simply return home on their own.

I hadn't heard that one. It's a big problem and at least we're starting to address it; something the nation has never done before.

But people want instant solutions and instant results.

Don't our present laws permit it?

Actually not.. I've pointed out out many times before but 2 major laws enacted by Clinton make it very hard to deport illegals, and another pretty much ties hands of enforcing employer sanctions against hiring illegals. They are posted a couple of times in this thread..
